Pinehurst No 2. 5/14, 5/15

I will be in Charlotte on 5/14 and 5/15 before heading to OBX.

We want to play Pinehurst No. 2 one of those days.

What is it like in May to walk on the course? I know it will be harder since it is a weekend but I figure since we are only 2 that it will increase our odds.

Just seeing if, by chance, someone on here is going to be there the same time and needs 2 or if someone is a member that can help us get on as a guarantee.

If not we will take our chances and he will call first thing in the morning to see if we can get on.

If we cannot get on No. 2, which other course there would be the one to play? It is a 2 hour trip but from what I hear there are others there that are 'must play' courses.

The spring busy season typically starts to wind down around Memorial Day weekend. So you'll be coming near the end of the spring rush.

Where are you staying that night? The reason I ask is because many people don't realize that some of the stay-and-play packages can actually be more affordable than paying the walk-on rate + a hotel and meals somewhere else. Plus, you'll be able to lock in a tee time on #2 with a package as opposed to rolling the dice on a last-minute tee time.

Staying with a friend in Charlotte and planned on driving the 2 hours to play.

stay and play is always an option. I spoke with them Friday and I know it is around $400 as a walk on to play and will cost around $650 to stay and play. I think we agree that the extra $250 is worth the guarantee. It is just getting the proverbial 'kitchen pass' from the wives. Wouldn't be hard to get the pass.... Pinehurst just said that we can't check in any later than midnight the night before.
