late june...driving back from bend...gonna play in boise...thinking of hideout...gets rave reviews...any input? or might hit page and lake powell national again...

The Hideout is brilliant is considered a gem in Utah. It makes a lot of the top 10 lists for public courses in the state. It doesn't get the big publicity due to it's location.

We are going to play Pinon Hills and then go up and play Hideout the next day before heading over to Durango, CO

just my opinion, but the hideout was so difficult, it wasn't fun for me...fairways drastically tilted, allowing the ball to roll into hazards...etc, etc...sometimes a course looks incredible, but is a bit unplayable...that's what it was for me...and i was playing with a guy that plays every day and has a house on the course, and was offering tips, and the course killed him as well! lol

my favorite on my summer trip was moab golf course! yeah, it's a muni, and it ain't fancied up like hideout, but the holes are a lot more fun to play (10 being the only relatively un-flashy hole out there) and the setting is like you're in the grand canyon or monument valley...i've played all over the place, including riviera, bel air, malibu, tpc scottsdale, etc etc...and moab had me thinking about living there for a year just to play that course! then i played the quarry in san antonio...that's my favorite course of all time! lol

lake powell national is pretty awesome too!

pinon hills is pretty decent, as well, lol, but moab has it beat in my opinion....but that's just what I like...your mileage may vary...

drive through there all the time, didn't even know Monticello had a course. Moab is a fun course. I'm also partial to Pinion, although the Farmington area is a bit of a dump.

I will play Pinon Hills before heading up to CO and UT.
