Rangefinder Recomendation for my dad

Hey guys/gals,

 

I want to get my dad a decent hand held rangefinder for his birthday. Looking at Bushy and Leupy. I have a GX3i, and love it.

 

But he's gonna want something really simple and easy to use that's just point and shoot. He just turned 70 and hates when tech doesn't work how it's supposed to, so I don't wanna see it smashed on the cart path after a month.

 

I only have my GX3i experience.

 

The PinCaddie 2 at $199 seems like a good bet, $199-$250 range.

 

Can someone make any recommendations based on the limited criteria I've provided?

And please ask questions if they seem relevant, or not relevant. I don't really care.

not one of the brands you mentioned, but nikon cololshot 20. Excellent value, simple functions and performance as good as many more expensive models.

Have you thought about a GPS instead of a rangefinder? Just walk up to your ball and your yardage if right there.

I don't know any 70yr olds that use a handheld laser

 

But plenty of guys that generation using gps watch showing front/back/middle + hazard info
