Saddle Creek and Greenhorn Creek

I found a thread from last year about these courses with some helpful information about course management, but has anyone played these tracks recently? Any changes? Conditions good?

 

I'm heading out at the end of the month for a few days and will be be playing Greenhorn one day and Saddle the next two days. Any information and/or tips would be appreciated.

I played saddle creek a month ago, great condition. Usually about 7 or 8 times a year.

Always in great shape.

GWD's thread is great, and right on the money about Saddle and Greenhorn. Saddle Creek is a great course and though I have only played Greenhorn twice my opinion of it as a well run and fun venue went way up. Also in the area is Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course (Groveland). A bit elevated from the others, and out of the way, but is a favorite of mine and a challenging course from the back tees, with great food, lodging, etc. About 45 mins from Saddle toward Yosemite and worth the effort. Summer golf for all three of these courses can get really hot at times, so be prepared.

I would say medium fast. Stumped about 10ish. Rolled really well. IMHO the best course in Central Valley.

I play at Saddle Creek every couple weeks and it is a very good course. They have had to cut way back on water, but have kept the course very playable. They have been having a skins game a couple times a month which is fun and a good deal.

Will be playing one of these two or Mountain Springs. We are staying a little up the hill from Sonora, sounds like Saddle Creek is the best option?

Saddle creek is definitely the best option in the area. My brother has played the course in Groveland and said it is good but it is a ways up there

Played Saddle in May. Rough was really up and tough after all the rain this winter. Course was in great shape, nice and fast greens, yet receptive. Layout was pretty OK in my mind, not the best but definitely a nice course and conditions were really good.

We played saddle last year, should we try greenhorn or saddle again? how do you think they compare?

Saddle is a great track, wish it wasn't so far from sac, but still make it down at least once a year.

 

Haven't played greenhorn because my buddies didn't want to play there, they said it was tricked up or something.

 

If I had a chance to play mountain springs again, I'd go to work instead. May be the worst course I've ever played.

 

Another good course kind of in the area but a bit out is castle Oaks if you want to go an hour north to ione
