Recording Penalties - Game Golf

Game Golf users, particularly the Live version, how to you handle penalties in your tagging? I have a game golf on order and had some issue with this on the manual entry app.

 

Here is my guess, you folks please correct me if there is a better method.

 

Tee Ball O.B. - My thought is tee up another, tag club and take second shot, then use app before next shot to add penalty to first shot.

 

Dropping from hazard - Take drop, tag club for next shot and play as normal. Add penalty to shot that went into hazard from app. (before teeing off on next hole preferably)

 

As far as club distances, how do balls OB affect it once you get a good sample size built up? I've read that it throws out shots under a certain threshold below your average.

I don't use the app while I'm playing. But you've got the basic outline. Drop or re-tee, tag again, hit the shot. I just add in the penalties after the round during editing.

 

I do not have the impression that "zero distance" shots when I re-tee are being used in the averages. Haven't necessarily gone back and confirmed that by calculating averages myself but pretty sure they don't get used.

3 rounds with game golf live, so A LOT of chances to figure out how to record penalties :cry:

 

Basically, tag each time you take a stroke and spend about 30 seconds between holes adding penalties if needed. I usually glance at the app between green and tee box to make sure score and # of putts are correct but that's about it.

I have the Classic version and I don't think I have hit one OB since. If I were faced with this what I would do in that event is just re-tee. I wouldn't bother tagging again. I would then proceed as normal, tagging my next club selection where that shot finished. During editing I would add two penalty stokes to that shot for going OB (since I am no laying 3). If I re-teed using a different club I would just "Change Club" during editing. In any event, since there is no way to get a distance for that errant shot I just ignore it and use the penalty stoke option.

I use one of the generic tags to tag penalty strokes, the circle shaped one. I just keep it in my opposite pocket in case I need it.

 

Say I hit one OB, I tap my penalty tag from the spot I hit it out, then tag the club I am going to hit again.

I have a tag reserved for penalties, however I don't carry it around. I add it on the website after the fact. So if I hit one into a hazard, for instance, I will add a shot on the website for the penalty tag, and move that to the spot where I estimate the ball landed. Therefore my averages stay good.
