Looking to try a blade putter, need your input

Currently have a mid mallet. Wilson Staff Vizor lvl 2. It's okay but I'm not sure if it fits me. Whenever I'm in golfsmith or any golf store I always try out putters. I've noticed that I seem to put better with a blade.

 

I'd like to buy a cheaper one to experiment with to see if it fits my stroke better. If it matters, I seem to prefer a slightly heavier head, so getting a 330g Scotty is a no go. I think something in the 350g range will be best. Some of the CB'ed blades I've used felt pretty nice. I'd like to spend less than $60, but maybe I'd go up to $80. Used is fine.

 

If it matters, I usually like to claw grip unless it's a very long putt, then I go traditional. A few putters I've liked are Odyssey #1 whitehot/tank, Ping Anser CB, TM Black Daytona. I'm interested in Nike Method and Cleveland HB, too.

 

I usually purchase off Ebay, Preowned Cally, or globalgolf.

At first I thought you were talking about a blade blade. Like a Wilson 8802 blade. But nope, you're looking for the Ping Anser style right? And you want heavy. This is probably the most copied style of putter ever made. One way you can get what your looking for for cheap is to pick up a belly putter. Like the Cleveland belly putter. And cut it down...

I'm talking putter style, yes. Blade style vs mallet style.

 

I guess I'm wondering if there's any one or putters in particular that I can get used that fit my price point, and weight point. I was going to buy a used Taylormade Black Daytona on ebay this morning, but I missed the auction because I got really busy at work. Probably fine because I'm even sure if it would be heavy enough for my liking.

You can always use lead tape to increase the weight of a putter.

 

My suggestion is to start with a cheap, lighter putter that looks good to you from address, and slowly build up the head weight with lead tape until you discover your ideal head weight. Once you have this number, you will be able to narrow your search, and can more confidently invest your money in a putter that meets this specification.

I'm guessing your Wilson that you currently have is a face balanced mid mallet? I am/was using a Taylormade Ghost Spider center shaft which is face balanced and was looking to mix it up. I recently picked up a PING Karsten TR Anser 5. The Anser #5 models are face balanced for straight-back-straight-through stroke and might be a good blade option if you're coming from a mallet. I've used it a little bit and definitely like it so far. I'm not going to get rid of my Spider yet (ever) but this will definitely get some bag time.
