Is it worth it?

Should i learn stack and tilt?

My biggest problem in golf in consistant contact. I haven't played in years and im getting back into it.

Since i am starting from scratch, is it worth learning stack and tilt?

what are the pros and cons? (my main goal is consistant contact so i was thinking that stack and tilt may help. Just looking for some pointers)

I would suggest you give it a try. I am trying it myself in the last few days and the result is promising. The quality of each shot is better than my conventional swing although distance and accuracy are the same.

Who, exactly, would you learn it from? Bennett and Plummer? Mac O'Grady? Someone else trained by Mac? If so, I'd say it is worth a try. But, without that kind of guidance, it sounds to me like a fool's errand.

 

I see these posts where players claim to have "tried" or are "learning" stack and tilt, presumably on their own, but how is that possible? That GD article raised as many questions as it answered. Just "staying left" is NOT stack and tilt...

why not continue lessons on a conventional swing instead of trying to change your whole swing and work from the gorund up...?

 

this is most likely a thing that will fade away in time, and you should probably be careful, cause i've read alot of complaints about not being able to hit woods using this method...

I am not learning the method from anyone and I don't believe you have to learn from a pro to make it worthwhile. I am trying it because i want to get better and it looks like a good option. I feel most of the fundamentals for stack and tilt are the same for a conventional swing. The only difference is your spine angle and weight shift so it wouldn't take that much to learn if you are already a good golfer. I am not saying I'll stick to stack and tilt but it's worth it to give it a shot.

I think Stack & Tilt is definitely worth trying. I admit that I was real curious about it so I thought that I would give it a shot. Call it experimentation or not. I will say that overall it does work. I hit my irons real well but the one thing that I did notice with it was that shots involving driver, fw and hybrid seemed shorter. Sort of like there was no drive through the ball. Maybe from not loading up on the right side or something.

 

Anyways, I resumed hitting balls yesterday and after an additional 2 buckets of Stack & Tilt I have gone back to a more conventional swing that got me where to where I was. I noticed a difference almost right away. Except for a few thinned shots when I immediately switched back to conventional. Where I practice there is a Jim McLean Golf School. I think I'm going to spend on a first lesson. Oughtta be interesting.

 

In closing, give the Stack & Tilt a shot. It does work and you may like it.

although if he's a good study, could he give it a shot based on the long, very detailed S & T thread on this site, and then post his progress with video?
