Played Galloping Hill yesterday. Was amazed that it wasn't super crowded and was able to move tee time up from 330 to 3 (first twilight). Course was in really good shape, bit of a shame that people don't fix their divots. But that comes with it being a public course.

Played Patriot Hills Early Saturday. Conditions were great and rough was pretty rough in some areas. Lost so many balls and my lost my golf game too. Played exactly 4 hour round with 4 of us. Definitely recommend if you never played.

I played Bethpage Black again on Sunday. Fifth time this year. For me, living in Brooklyn, if I want a weekend round, there is just nothing better for the money. The courses Brooklyn and Staten Island are no goes at the weekend and they charge just at much as Bethpage. Yes, the drive is 40 mins to get there and an hour and 20 back, but it's so worth it.

 

I got round in about 4 hours and 45 which is about right for Bethpage. I have never played a round there where i am waiting on the tee at every hole. The best thing about the black is that the crappy weekend hackers stay off it.

 

We should get a GolfWrx four ball sorted soon at either Bethpage or somewhere else.

Thinking of taking office Thursday, anyone more familiar with the Long Island options? I know there's obviously Bethpage, but I've also heard of Middle Bay, Island End, Holbrook, and Woods at Cherry Creek. Just looking for some options, especially now that Tallgrass is gone and Lido Beach is going through management changes

I know there's obviously Bethpage, but I've also heard of Middle Bay, Island End, Holbrook, and Woods at Cherry Creek. Just looking for some options, especially now that Tallgrass is gone and Lido Beach is going through management changes

Not played any of those courses, apart from Bethpage. Island End, Holbrook, and Woods at Cherry Creek look a little too far for me, coming from Brooklyn.

A little far for me, i'm afraid. Would be 2 hours there and god knows how long back.

Willow Creek is definitely worth it. Lots of water hazards and some good par 5's. Fun course. Also if you book it from TeeOff.com, and use the coupon code, brings the price down significantly. Enjoy!

You should try Crab Meadow in Northport. With view of the Long Island Sound and Connecticut, I think you would enjoy this course

I love Crab Meadow. Played it a few weeks ago and Course was in great condition!

Will def check out Crab Meadow, little closer and looks really nice. Willow Creek was excellent, conditions were among some of the best I've seen for a NY-area public course, grass driving range, not crowded. Short version: would definitely play it again sometime soon. In fact, my only complaint was a rogue groundskeeper on his ride on lawnmower. Wasn't exactly a "courteous" individual (I had a green side chip and he parked up about ~15 yds from me).

Hello NYC group - I'm new to GolfWRX and this is actually my first post. I will be in the area on business the 2nd week of Aug and was hoping to find some locals to make a foursome and play Bethpage Black on Thur 8/10 (never played it before). did you license expire recently? If so, you'll need to call them an just update to the new expiration date. This happened to me earlier this year.

Middle Bay is a beautiful course. I highly recommend it.
