Moving to Orlando

Hey all.

My family, including a new addition in May, will be moving to Orlando from Ft. Lauderdale around July. Just in time to get the kids settled and registered to their schools. I've worked in the golf industry all my life in every facet of the field just about. I'm looking to get employment to a nice club in the area if you all have any suggestions or know some places that'd be looking for help around that time. I figured I could get some help ahead of time in the search, and what better place to ask then the WRX community. I like working the bag room or caddying if those positions come to mind. So if you know any good places I should look into please fill me in to start my search. Look forward to moving up to the area and even enjoying a round with some of you.

There's not a lot of private clubs in Orlando. The main ones are Interlachen, Orange Tree, Lake Nona, Isleworth, and Country Club of Orlando. Tons of public courses with bag drops.

 

Orlando is filled with toll roads, so you probably want to find a place to work that is close to where you live so you don't have to take the toll roads. I don't know what clubs have caddies as pretty much they all allow for carts. You could make the trip to Streamsong (about 90 minutes away). it's a long trip, but the caddies there get paid well.

Richie is correct. This town is about resort golf and not many private clubs are out there. We have lots of really nice courses and golf is played year round but not many options in the way of what you described. Some of the bigger resort operations may appreciate your experience especially if they have multiple courses and learning centers. The toll road advice is something to look at as well...You will get nickel and dimed getting around town in a hurry if you don't work close to where you live. It can cost almost $3 each way to go from the west side of town (attractions area) to the east side (UCF/Technology Park) $6 a day adds up quick:)

Good community, a little pricier down there. Lake Nona isn't far by, but I don't know if they hire caddies there or not. For caddie positions, Streamsong would be your best bet. That's about 1 hour 15 minutes away. However, they do charge customers pretty high prices for caddies. Otherwise you'll be working the bag drop at places in Orlando.

How about Bay Hill & their caddy program?

I'm pretty certain that they allow for golf carts at Bay Hill. I could be wrong.

 

If they do, I would think that would eat up in your potential earnings. I love Bay Hill though. Great area without being snobby.
