Who's played Philadelphia Cricket Club, Pine Hill, or Glen Mills?

WRXers:

I'm headed to Philadelphia in a couple of weeks for a few days of golf with a friend. We're playing Philadelphia Cricket Club, Pine Hill, and Glen Mills.

Can anyone provide a quick review or suggestion for any of the three? I've played the Cricket Club once (the newer course, which I assume we're playing this time), but don't remember all of it.

Any information is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

These are all great courses that you will enjoy. Try and play the old course at the cricket club. It is a great layout. Pine Hill and Glen Mills are also good, tough tests of golf. Have fun!

Isn't the Cricket Club a private course? It's literally 5 mins. from my house, but I never thought to play there because I thought it was private. Is it open to the public??

The Cricket Club is private. Pine Hill is a nice course, but you better be able to putt. And play it soon because it's supposed to go private in the near future. Glen Mills is in a class by itself. Maybe the nicest public course in eastern PA.

Pine hills been going private for 2years now, I believe it's semi-private right now... I've only heard incredible things about it! I'm supposed to play there this fall with some buddies.

 

Hear great things about the Cricket club, and not heard anything about Glenn MIlls.

Glen Mills is a great course. Hole #11 think ACCURACY x2. Have fun

I was lucky enough to play Philly Cricket a few times when my former club was closed. The Militia Hill course is their new course and is long with a lot of Fescue grass. Be sure to at least take a fore caddy to help with spotting and green reading, should cost you about $30 a bag and is well worth it. The Wisahickon Course (sp?) is their old course and is a bit shorter with tough greens and again take someone with local knowledge to help you get around as it will be well worth it.

 

Glen Mills is an awesome track with a great need for accuracy. Not one of my favorite courses to play if I am not striking the ball very well when I am heading up to play it. Enjoy your time in Philly you are playing some great courses.

Back from the trip...

 

Philadelphia Cricket Club was a treat, as always. We played the old (Tillinghast) course this time. I had a great caddy, and can't recommend the course more highly for anyone who has the opportunity to play it.

 

Glen Mills is a must-see as well. Bobby Weed knows his stuff.

 

Pine Hill, which is going private, may be the hardest course I've ever played. It was every bit as difficult as Primland and Royal New Kent here in Virginia. It was definitely a departure for Fazio...not his typical member's course...and has many Pine Valleyish views and bunkers.

Never played Glen Mills. Played Cricket Club(Militia Hills, the newer course) and Pine Hill a ton of times. Totally opposite courses. Cricket is pretty wide open. Bomber's paradise. Pretty long, good condition, nice layout. The Hill is a tough driver's course with most emphasis on second shots. This place plays like a narrower Pine Valley. Greens not quite as extreme as well as elevation changes. Both great courses. The Hill is harder to putt.
