NIKE NDS IRONS - mens set

For the ladies
ok, here's the situation, i had already purchased the tm rac os 2 for next season; i had my eyes set on another set, the 2004 nike pro combo - a really sweet deal for what they were asking for - but my wife has indicated that she hasn't played golf before and wanted to give if a try......i though that the pro combo could and should work for her, but got to thinking and i've ask around, they are a lot harder to hit than the nds or rac os 2, and plus i woudn't be able to return them after i walk out of the store....so i found a brand new set of nike nds irons, but they don't have any ladies, this is a mens set. click on link below for specs on the irons. http://www.tgw.com/customer/category/produ...ATEGORY_ID=5284

***SORRY, I TRIED THE LINK BUT IT DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY SPECS. LINK IS STILL AVAILABLE, BUT HERE'S THE SPECS:

RIGHT HAND MEN NDS IRONS; #3-PW; STEEL SHAFT; UNIFLEX. :pimp:

don't pay any attention to the price, i can purchase this new set from the local dealer for a lot less than what they are asking for. the local shop doesn't have a ladies set. i figure that i already wanted another set as a "back up" so i would get this and if she doens't end up playing it, i could play it also. could my lady justified on using a mens set? what is the really really big difference between the mens and the ladies nds? REMEMBER, MY LADY HAS NOT PLAYED A ROUND OF GOLF BEFORE, SO IF I DECIDED TO PURCHASE A LADIES SET AND SHE DOENS'T LIKE TO PLAY GOLF, THEN I'M SCREWED BECUASE I WOULD END UP HAVING A BRAND NEW SET OF LADIES NDS AT HOME AND I CAN'T GET A FULL REFUND. BUT IF I PURCHASED A MENS SET, I WOULD HAVE A EXTRA SET AT HOME FOR ME, THE FRIEND, OR THE BROTHER!

what's everyone's take on this! quick response would be great!

i've demoed the set already, the steel and the hand-me-downs were graphite. i gotta say, i like the steels better. somehow, i get a better and happier result from a steel shaft. of course my hand-me-down weren't in top condition also? are they a little heavier from the graphite shaft. would you think for a person who has not played a round of golf would show and know a big differnce. basically, i looked at the site and they are pretty much identical except the ladies set comes from a 4-sw with graphite ladies flex and mens are equiped with 3-pw and have the option of graphite or steel.

i don't know, i probably wouldln't pass up a good deal if i saw one, especially if i'm not sure if the lady is serious about playing next summer. if not, then i'll have a extra set of mens to play around with and not an extra set of ladies collecting dust.

I have the Pro Combo's w/Nike Mid-kick graphite shafts but looked at the NDS irons with Nike Uniflex steel first last May. Great clubs, and I may have bought the NDS however the PC's were on closeout and actually cheaper at the time. I agree with the other poster, have her hit a few into the nets at the store to see if the shafts will work for her. Just a guess, but the lighter ladies shafts may have a lower kickpoint for higher launch.

A plus for her regarding the Nike NDS is that these are the irons that Grace Park plays on the LPGA tour.

You should definitely get her to try them out on the range. It seems like you're more looking for a second set for you than her. If she hasn't played in so long then why not just get her some starter set because if you get her something with a shaft you like she might not enjoy them and won't be playing next summer anyways.

If your wife has not played golf before giving her a steel shafted club would almost guarantee her not liking the game. Steel shafts ar too heavy for most women that play golf.

Get her some clubs with a graphite shaft.

A lighter graphite shaft and ladies specs will at least give her a fighting chance to enjoy herself. If that's really what you want. :pimp:

ight.........i decided agains getting her the nds mens set, instead, i purchased her a ladies set that includes everything.....didn't cost me allotta money, meaning i have extra money for extra sticks in my bag. i was wondering around the pro shop this weekend and found a pre-owned adams idea preowned set. still is relatively good condition. i was trying to figure out what model this was but coudln't find it.......although i found the shop tag that saids it retails about 200. i'm going to instead purchase this set as a secondary hackin'-for-the-fun-of-it set. don't want to use my rac os 2 alot next season...................although i'm want too............

thanks for all the replys!@

I agree, most women that I know play graphite shafts in their irons.  Even the few that I know that are single handicaps, all play some variation of a graphite, even if it's a better then OEM graphite.  The lack of dampening off mishits combined with the heavier feel make steel a bad choice for a first set of clubs.

I have a set of NDS's in graphite regular, men's that I upgraded early this summer gathering dust in my basement.  :pimp:

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
