Another Week and Another Lesson

Had another lesson today and he has had me start working on swinging out more towards my target. I was swinging out to in and was turning my wrist over fast enough but when I did I hit the ball really baddly left. So he has me working on swinging a little more out. He recomended setting up something along my ball like a ruler or something and setting it beside my ball. Does anyone have any tips. Its really weird turning my wrist over and swing the opposit way. Also, he says i'm swinging to much with my right hand. I see what hes saying but I just can't stop. I really need something to make me stop. Thanks a lot. Thanks a lo

That is an easy fix!!

 

Swing more inside to out...............swing to first base instead of swinging to second like your doing...........this should create a slight draw depending on how fast you roll your hands through the impact zone.

Slow practice swings. Lots of them. Then gradually increase your speed.

If your paying someone for lessons you need to only listen to them.

 

The first thing you really need to learn from a teacher is to have total trust that they are telling you the right thing.

 

If you do not understand them , make them explain it over again if it takes it ten times.

 

If you still can not understand it find a new instructor.

 

Seriously not everyone that hangs up a shingle can teach golf. No one teacher can communicate with every student.

 

 

You should not feel this lost after a lesson. But it takes two too tango . You have to let the instructor know you are lost.

I understand his concepts but he doesn't seem big in drills. He has only given me a few drills to practice with. I know what he's telling me is right but I just cant do it all the time.

I know what it feels like when your instructor changes something and it is very hard to do. Mine changed my grip about a month ago and it took a couple weeks to feel right but it was the right thing to do. Changing your swing from out-to-in to in-to-out isnt just going to feel good right away. Eventually though it will feel right and you'll understand what he was saying. Also, when I'm having trouble trusting what my instructor is telling me, i just pick up a couple old Golf Digests and look at the pros and see that that's how they do it. Hope this helps.
