FSGA One-Day Events

Posted this in the Florida regional forum with no responses, so thought I would try here.

New to Florida and getting back to golf on a more regular basis. I noticed that the FSGA holds one-day events just about every week, some are on some decent courses as well.

Any feedback from those who have played in any of these events? Good, bad? I would most likely be playing in the net events, working on getting my handicap down, so I'm sure I would see some sandbaggers out there.

I haven't played the one day events but I have friends that have and they all have positive reviews. I've played quite a few FSGA events and my experience has been great. I think as far as a state golf association goes, the FSGA is about as good as it gets. They have always been on top of the ball, finding excellent courses to play and servicing the players.

I have played in a few FSGA one day events. I did it only for purposes of gaining tournament experience and seeing how my game held up. BUT most important is that you can get on some great courses for a lot less than you would have paid if you called and got a tee time.

Yes there will be some sandbaggers, .. .. so what! Like I said I did not enter to win, though I have come in second one time, and got a $40 shop credit.

I also met some great guys when playing in the event.

Thanks for the info guys. My main reason for looking into these vents were the courses and also to get some tournament experience. I wasn't worried about a sandbagger beating me, but more of having to play with them. If the go so far as to cheat in this type of event I'm sure they would probably not be the most fun playing partners.

I have played a number of these over the last several months. I use it to get tournament ready and to play some really good courses for cheap. Also, they have a $20 skins pool that is optional. Gross skins though.

Played in many and also been the committee for many. The FSGA Events are top notch and the One-Day events are reasonable and a great way to meet other golfers from all over the state, and yes winter visitors. An early season schedule is usually posted on the web page in mid to late January with the full schedule posted a little later. Be ready to enter; many courses fill quickly, such as Golden Ocala, Avila, and Adena. The FSGA also offers One-Day events at Streamsong and the Stadium Course TPC Jacksonville. They have so many all over the state.

I'm heading to Hammock Beach in two weeks, will play both the Ocean and Conservatory Course in the FSGA One-Day's.
