Golf Near Cardiff/Bristol

Will be going to this area in mid September. Have been doing a lot of research and obviously there is Royal Porthcawl and Tenby and Pennard seem to get good reviews. Anywhere else I should look at?

 

Also, how late a tee time can you get in still get in 18 before dark.

I'm struggling with light teaching in Bristol from about 830-8.45 at the mo so by mid September need to get out by 4.30 at the latest. If you're basing yourself in Cardiff/Bristol area then could find Tenby and Pennard a bit of a drive. Links wise Burnham's always worth a look and not tough to get to and Porthcawl's not too much of a struggle. Outside of that you've got the like of Bristol & Clifton or Long Ashton or the newer tracks such as The Kendleshire, Cumberwell Park or Celtic Manor, not necessarily must plays but decent tracks for a game

I play a lot in the Bristol area and am a member at Bristol and Clifton, which is pretty good but there isn't much decent competition.

Play Royal Porthcawl if you get the chance, best course in this region by far and has pedigree - Burnham and Berrow maybe as distant second choice.

Thanks for the thoughts. Looks like it will Royal Porthcawl. Going to try and play 36. Do you know if the course comes back in to the clubhouse after 9? Wondering if it starts to get dark on the second round.
