Snake Eyes Quick Strike II Hybrids

Hi Group,

 

I still game the Snake Eye QS II Hybrids (15, 19, 23, 27) which I built some time around 2003 or 2004. They still perform well

but would like to play something newer since I retired.

Besides the Loft and Lie, does anyone have the following specs for the above heads: Weight & Offset.

 

I contacted Jeff Sheets as I understood he was instrumental in the design, but he no longer has that info..not sure if Tom Wishon was still with Golfsmith at that time as I recall he was actively involved in GS clubhead design.

Knew those old goldsmith catalogues would come in handy one day.

Specs don't mention amount of offset only that the tour version has 3mm less than the regular.

Might be difficult finding a modern hybrid similar to the QS-II. The offset and .335" bore make them somewhat unique.

 

I still game the 19 degree and can draw/hook it with ease. Comes in handy on my home course with many dogleg left par 4's.

Thanks 3putts - I'll put them back on my gauge. They look offset substantially, but my gauge says 0! May need to read instructions again.

Since I hang most everything to the right, I appreciate the QSII'S

Really seem to fit my game.

If I can't nail down the offset, they'll stay in my bag.

You should try to look at Callaway X Hot hybrids. Very similar offset to the QS II.

They likely don't have offset as it's defined, forward edge of the hosel to the leading edge of the blade.....they certainly have much less onset (leading edge of the blade is in front of the hosel) vs. other hybrids and would help getting the ball up in the air, which also the .335 design would aide with. That was a very good design.....I played the 19* for quite some time. The only other .335 design that comes to mind are the Wishon hybrids. The 775hs would look dramatically different as it will have much more onset. The r11 hybrid was fairly neutral, might be worth a look.
