Minnesota club fitting

So I've been considering doing a full bag fitting and could use some advice. I really am looking at changing my wedges and trying to get the gaps a little better spaced out. The reason I'd do a full bag is to make sure I'm good all the way through, plus I've never been fit. There are several options: club champion, 2nd Swing, totally driven, and PGA Superstore. I will have to drive to Minneapolis for this, so it will be a whole day thing.

 

Can anyone recommend one over the other, and/or a particular fitter? Also, should I do a full bag, or save the money and do just wedges?

Totally Driven is phenomenal, no one else touches my clubs.

 

Do a full fitting, you'll love the info that TrackMan can give you.

 

Also the SAM Putting Lab is really neat to try out.

 

They have essentially every shaft/head imaginable.

I’m A huge fan of 2nd swing in Minnetonka either James or Aaron..both are excellent fitters and it’s a very comfortable fitting with no pressure to buy. I’ve been there several times over the past 2 years

I've done the tour van fitting twice at 2nd Swing MPLS with Thomas and he's always been super helpful and taken the time to get things right with me. He's helped fit for new equipment as well as spec existing gear correctly to the right gaps and loft/lies. Highly recommend the tour van fitting.

I've never done PGA Superstore, but I've had irons, drivers, wedges and full bag fittings at each of the other three at some point. I actually had great experiences with all of them and wouldn't have a problem recommending any of the three. If push came to shove and I had to recommend just one I'd go with Totally Driven. They have top notch fitters with a wealth of knowledge. It's a great experience all around they really know their stuff.

 

As for advice on the fitting itself I'd go with this. Go soon, don't wait until winter when you haven't swung a club in 2 or 3 months before going. Go now while you've been playing all summer and your swing is grooved. Also don't be afraid to ask to split a full bag fitting in to two sessions. You'll get tired no matter how good a shape your swing is in. If you're like me and want to try everything just to see what it does then you'll be hitting a lot of balls in a short time span. There's nothing worse than spending an hour hitting irons and then finding out you're gassed just as you switch to driver. Take plenty of breaks and bring something to drink.

Giving this one a bump. I've been watching a few too many TXG videos lately and it's making me want to go through an extensive fitting like they offer. My issue is is that I've been fit at 3 different spots in town through the years and none have ever been as thorough or in depth as what they do. I know everyone says Totally Driven is the place to go, but I'm worried about shaft selections for woods. I talked to a guy there the other day and he said that they have a good selection of shafts, but when I rattled off a couple to make sure they had them, he said they didn't because they never fit people into them. Just wanted to see what everyone thought on here and if anyone has had any experience recently.

I went to a few of these facilities over the years, including CC, 2S, TD etc. The experience has been overly positive but I feel that I don’t get the technical depth and insight I would like to have. Recently I have adopted the approach of try and error myself: I would buy clubs and shafts used, have them reshafted to the intended shafts at local golf shops, and try different combinations. This approach has been more effective in my opinion, and not necessarily more expensive.
