Little or no wrist hinge. Anyone play this way?

I was answering a question above, and wasn't saying that any of these actions are wrong -- just that sometimes chasing these things, especially too much so/improperly, can lead to what Zitlow was suggesting.

And I'm answering your post, by sharing my opinion that those times when people chasing those things are going down the wrong path… are few and far between. The majority of golfers should probably do MORE of those things, not less.

That's fine. But I didn't ask a question, and I also am someone whose efforts toward these moves only made my lack of wrist hinge worse.

Okay. I didn’t talk about your swing or how you did it poorly. Width isn’t the clubhead. Width is the hands. And generally speaking, I prefer too wide over too narrow.

Sounds like you were applying a good concept incorrectly.

As a purely personal experience, I also struggle with insufficient wrist hinge in my swing. For me, a swing without active wrist hinge and an active shoulder turn is the swing that feels "natural" and which I fall back on when I lack concentration. Playing partners have often asked me if I used to play hokey or something similar. In my experience, this swing is quite consistent and I can play good golf with it, but I lose about 5-10 mph of club head speed compared to my "good" swing with wrist action.

If anyone knows a good method to force a sufficiently early wrist movement please let me know 😅. Currently I keep trying the Faldo drill as a training swing, but I can't quite integrate the movement into my normal swing. I have even bought a wrist angle that can be attached to the club. Maybe it will help.

This feels like one of those "you just have to make yourself do it" type of things.

Breaking habits is hard. If it wasn't, golf instruction would be a LOT simpler, and way more people would do it, because they'd get better really fast.

Have you ever played darts? RH golfer trail wrist only. Simulate throwing dart to target in front of you. Get into your setup and do the same motion keying in on trail wrist only trying to throw the dart at the ball. This will make the scratch or low hdcp. throw up but it will give you wrist hinge. I don't think it's right but I struggle with hip sway going back and I think it compliments Monte's NTC on the initial takeaway. Irons only because of the length of the club.

Absolutely. That's why I used the word "chasing" previously. For me, concentrating on getting your hands wide/away from the body can put the focus all on the arms, and that can really put the concept of hinging your wrists properly and in a timely manner out the window.

Yes, this IS a "you just have to make yourself do it" thing for many people. This notion of "if you just do x, then y will naturally happen" in the golf swing just doesn't fly for many.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
