Hi All,

 

I am fortunate enough to have an invite to play NGLA later this week, has anyone else played this course? I am excited and have read some reviews that say the course is outstanding, is there anything unique about this course anyone can share?

Fantastic place. The drive through the middle of Shinnecock is priceless. Don’t be taken back by a less than average practice range..the course is straight forward and tough.

 

Listen to you caddie. If he says hit it in the right rough, believe him that hitting it there may be your only chance. Good shots get rewarded, bad shots, well, play hard...��

 

Greens, if there’re fast, are insane!

 

18 is a classic walk along the LI sound.,,don’t miss it right!

I got to play it a few years ago. I still say it's probably the most fun golf course I've ever played. Every hole has something special about it. The par threes on the front are outstanding. Lots of template holes on it. The 4th is the Redan and I think a lot of people think it's the best redan in the world. Hard to argue. I think 6 is the short and 7 is the road hole one. It's fair and it's all out in front of you. You can open your shoulders up a lot of the time and you never really feel restricted. Now just hope the weather is nice and have a great time!

Played it last week, wonderful course and clubhouse. Don't forget to pack a sports jacket and smart shoes so you can have a good look around the clubhouse as it's stunning and steeped in history.

I played it last April and it is truly a special place. If I could only play one course again it would be the National.

played it a handful of times between 2002-05. special place. 1 of the all time greats. listen to the caddie / member who's bringing you. tons of local knowledge out there
