RTJ - Capitol Hill Conditions - Late Sept '18?

I'm headed to Capitol Hill this weekend (9/29-9/30). Has anyone played any of the courses recently, and if so, how are the conditions?

So, I guess I will answer my own question to share my experiences. Capitol Hill received a lot of rain during the last week of September according to the starter. On 9/28 we were cart path only (CPO) on the Judge course. Very wet fairways and tee boxes, but the greens were in good shape. The next day, the courses were operating on 90-degree access and were more playable. The Legislator only had a few wet spots and was in good shape. We played the Senator in the afternoon and it showed no affects of the rain.

 

The last stop was Ross Bridge in Hoover on 9/30. According to the starter, they have not gotten much rain in this area. The fairways were in good shape, but the greens were a bit rough in spots. I would guess that this is probably the stress of keeping bent grass greens going all summer in the Alabama heat. In my opinion, they should replace them with Bermuda which would keep them in great shape all year.

they've had issues all year with the greens ... haven't been able to get them straightened out ...

It has been a fairly rough summer here in Birmingham. Several of the courses my son and I traditionally play have been struggling to keep the greens stable.

I played Ross Bridge about three weeks back and the greens were pretty bad by RTJ standards. The 2nd green had lost close to half of its grass and was the worst on the course at the time I played. Bent grass and Alabama summers just don't go together for the most part. The Shoals still has bent as well, but their greens are fine. That said, they are really slow since they soak them constantly and won't cut them down. Both side have been punched in the past three weeks. Fighting Joe got it first, so it should be fine by now. Schoolmaster was punched last week I think.

ross is the only one experiencing problems ... both greens at oxmoor valley have been fine, by their standards ... ross has had problems dating back to the spring ...
