Golf Trip - OCMD

The boys and I are looking to take a golf trip over MDW. Want to make this a tradition but starting off the first year wanting to stay local and keep it rather cheap.

We are looking into Ocean City, MD. Have already priced out an Air BnB.

Looking for course recommendations. Going to be playing 3 rounds and want them all to be close to the "downtown" area of Ocean City MD - no more than a 45 minute drive each way preferably.

Any suggestions on courses would be welcome. We will have 8 guys so looking to get back to back tee times where possible for the long weekend.

I go down every year with a group of guys for the Masters but after playing in 30 degree weather the last couple of years we decided to push it out a month until May. It really depends on when you go as Spring is prime time and you pay a premium at the courses. If you go down after June, you can find some really great deals but if you are thinking of playing at the end of April into May I would suggest to look at some of the specials that http://www.pamsgolfoc.com/ run as you can get lodging and courses. The better courses like Bayside, Links @ Lighthouse, Baywood Greens and Rum Pointe are the top shelf courses but if saving a lot money is your number 1 priority there are plenty of other courses to choose from.

Thanks. The date is basically already locked in May 23 - 27. Probably getting in late on the 23rd and then playing 24, 25, 26 and maybe 27 before driving back to NJ

I actually played Links @ Lighthouse way back in the day. The 1st hole as one of my first eagles when I drove the green and nailed about a 15 footer. Think I was around 13. Thanks for the reminder!

I will look into the other courses.

Stop at Baywood on the way down or the way back up to Jersey. Bayside was really nice and you can find some good deals on Golfnow the closer you get to May. I'm headed down the 2nd week of May so I'll try and update you on the course conditions. Links does early bird specials on their website before 8:00 AM so if you plan on playing 36 one day I would snag an early tee time from them as prices are usually at least 40% off base.

I would suggest Glen Riddle Golf Club glenriddlegolf.com

It's 2 18 hole layouts, Man O War and War Admiral. It's been a few years since i played them but i remember them being both good tracks and close to OC.

Every course is well within 45 minutes of Ocean City so no problem there. If you haven’t locked in lodging yet I’d give Pam’s Golf a call or go online. They are pretty much the experts on OC and have competitive package prices. Glen Riddle is closest to downtown OC (5 minutes?) and has two courses. Within your 45 minute window is Nutters Crossing in Salisbury (maybe 30 minutes). Decent layout that gets passed by a lot since everyone is focused on going to OC. It has the same owners as Lighthouse Sound, Rum Pointe, and Glen Riddle. They usually have a deal if you play multiple of their courses plus include a deal for Ruth Chris restaurant located at Glen Riddle.

Have been doing this same trip with a group of guys the last 4 years. All of the suggestions so far are right on the money, you can't really go wrong with any of the courses suggested. Here is our plan for this year:

- Saturday, leave NJ in the morning and play Bear Trap Dunes on the way down

- Sunday, 36 holes at Glen Riddle (we got lucky this year and got a tee time on both tracks, in the past they've had outings and stuff so we had to just play the same course again)

- Monday, 36 holes, Rum Pointe in the morning, Newport Bay Club (they have 2 courses, not sure which we're playing) in the afternoon

- Tuesday, leave OCMD in the morning and play Baywood on the way home

When are you headed down? Baywood on the way home is a great way to end the trip. That is what we do every year but this year we are going to play on the way down and on the way home. We head down on a Thursday after work and stay at the Borgata and wake up and play somewhere on the way down. Let's hope this snow melts soon though as the past couple days have been brutal.
