Shaft vs swing - Srixon 785 w/ HZRDUS red or black

Hi,

 

Recently did a fitting with a 10.5* Srixon 785 driver. Here in Europe you can't get the HZRDUS black 62 gram 6.0 so I was fit into the RED 6.0 62 gram shaft. It felt good, heck of a step up from the x65-series. Some of my numbers:

 

Swing speed: 108 MPH

AoA: 2 down

Path: around zero

Spin: 2800

Carry: 260 yards

Total: 280 yards

Don't remeber launch angle but I should not go down in loft he said...

This was into the wind, not sure if trackman normalizes the wind or measures the actual spin with the radar?

 

It hit it really good so I should be happy but I am feeling I leave some distance on the table because of the spin... My question: of course the easiest way to get my spin down is to change my angle of attack upwards but I have already done heck of a job to get it from 5 down to 2 down... the black shaft I thought was my best fit but can't get it unless I order from the states.

 

What do you gearheads think, could the black shave off some spin at all or should I just go work on my AoA?

HZRDUS Red has a more active tip than Black which I think may be advantageous with a downward AOA. Having said that, and not being a shaft expert, I thought the Red was a more common choice for fairway woods, with people going Yellow in the driver if they wanted counter balanced and black if not. Don't think many OEMs are offering Red for the driver, even at an up charge.

 

From my own experience, I also have downward AOA with the driver but greatly prefer the firmer tip feel of Rogue Silver vs. Rogue Black or Diamana D+ vs. S+. Even thought it shouldn't be the best option for me, I swing more confidently with the firmer tip and get better numbers. Don't get the Red if you really want the Black, you'll just have lingering doubts about your choice.

I don’t think you’re going to see a shaft shave more spin off than what your standard deviation of spin is from swing to swing. What would be more beneficial to look at would be your ball speed and smash factor. Could a different shaft help you find the center of the club more consistently? Never know until you test. This might improve your launch conditions.
