Why is Pebble so green?

After seeing your post, I realized that was a misstatement on my part. Should have said that 18 was the par 5 that they were flying the ball on the green with their 2nd shot with longer irons. Don't really remember that many shots flying onto the green on #6 but I'm sure there were some.

If greens are going to be 12-14, they need to be plenty large for the added run-out. Players would have a fit if because of speed a well-struck shot didn't stay on the green or apron. Maybe the reason behind why so many players used 3wd off #18, and still hitting an iron into or near the green.
