Private in Tampa

What are the best private courses in Tampa area? I have a connection that could get me on one of the following, which should I go with? Thanks in advance!

 

St Pete Country Club

Feather Sound

Vinoy

Tampa Palms

Carrollwood Country Club

Hunters Green

If you want to hit drivers, SPC and Vinoy would be at the bottom, but Vinoy is in great shape.

Feathersound is a nice track. It's forgiving off the tee but the greens are all elevated. Sneaky hard at times. Good Range and practice area above the others.

Tampa Palms is also usually in great shape but very tight

Hunters Green is a great spot, same area as Tampa Palms

Carrol wood gives you options with more holes.

 

Why not just go play all of them and then tell us what you think?

I have heard good things about Carrollwood from a bunch of guys I know who work at Old Memorial.

Old Memorial, Feathersound, Avila and everything else is mediocre. I live here and love the area but on a whole the Tampa - St. Pete area is a collection of mediocre golf that runs contrary to what you expect when coming to Florida.

Feather in the same class as Avila and OM? Not in a million years.

They are different kinds of clubs which caters to a specific purpose of their own; and both share same members.

 

Belleair west. Pasadena. PGC. Cypress run. Concession. Lakewood national. Lake Jovita. Ritz Carlton. Southern hills.

 

Tampa bay is fine. Not as great as the midwest but if you try hard enough you can play 12 months out of the year which is always a bonus.

No I get it and wasn’t saying those 3 were equals, I’m saying there is nothing else I personally would join around the area. I’ll repeat, I love it here, love taking my boat out 52 weeks a year, love being able to play golf 52 weeks a year, just wish the golf around here was half way decent, because unless you are willing to drive an hour, and I’m not, it isn’t.

I love Carrollwood Country Club. Great amenities and constantly has events going on. The Courses are pretty nice as well as long as they take care of the greens
