Focus on hitting the fairway with the longest possible club. From there, use the club in your 14 club arsenal that will get the job done. It does not matter how you get to the green, it is more important to get there in the least amount of strokes. Believe me, I too want to hit it long but if you tell me I am gonna hit it 260 dead straight every single time versus and inconsistent 300, I would take the 260 any day. Work on solidifying your short game and your putting and it is like picking up an extra stroke. Believe me when I say that I am able to be more aggressive with my approach in because of having focused on my short game more.

related: i've noticed a difference with swinging faster versus harder, if that makes sense. faster (less tension) usually produces better results whereas harder (more tension) is less consistent and not always longer.

I videoed my swing today for the first time in a long time. Man I’m coming so far inside of the take away it’s amazing I hit anything at all. Ive got some serious work to do but I imagine once I get my path fixed my hooks and blocks should be better and hopefully I’ll find some distance with a better swing.
