Two Sets In One Flight Bag

Hi Guys,

Planning on doing a couple of trips with my son this year and am on the look out for a flight bag that could take both a standard carry bag with a full set and a junior 3/4 set in the one flight bag. I think the weight should be fine as my son's set is very light and full of graphite shafts. However, I'm not sure whether the size is a problem.

Has anyone else tried this, or can think of a suitable bag for this purpose?

My dad and I did this last fall on our trip to Ireland. It was a family trip with a little golf mixed in, so we decided to each take a few clubs out of our bags and try to fit them into one travel bag. We used the TourTrek TC PRO travel bag from DSG. I hadn't heard of it before he bought it, but it worked well and seemed to protect everything nicely. The padded top section is nice to have for peace of mind if nothing else.

I think we had around 18-20 clubs total and we put them all in his bag (an older Hoofer, FWIW) and stuffed in a Callaway HyperLite 1+ next to it, with just balls/tees/etc. The HyperLite 1+ is an unstructured bag, other than the top and the small legs, so it fit it fairly easily. We were able to fit in two pairs of golf shoes (one in the outer shoe compartment and one in with the clubs) and enough towels/jackets to protect the clubs. I think we were around 45 lbs all in, so a little room to spare under the 50 lb limit.

Thank you for your very detail experience OakRockHacker! That sounds exactly what I'm trying to do!

The Callaway HyperLit 1+ is pretty much the same size as my son's Ping Prodi G bag and my bag is a smallish Titleist stand bag. I've not heard of the TourTrek TC PRO travel bag either; it seems to have a pretty solid write up on MyGolfSpy a year or two back.
