courses near Charlotte

Hey guys,

Looks like my dad and I will be in Charlotte on the 29th to watch UConn football play in the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Can someone reccomend some good courses nearby that we can play while we are down there? Also, what temperatures should we expect in Charlotte in late December? Thanks.

I can't speak for Charlotte golf courses, as I never play down that way, but you can expect cold in Charlotte in late december. I would expect anywhere from 30's to 60's depending on the weather. If you can make it though Rock Barn up outside of Hickory has 2 great courses and is on the senior tour. Should be about 1 to 1 1/2 hours away.

If you are wanting to stay around Charlotte I would suggest Carolina Lakes in SunCity Center, Springfield or Ballantyne Golf Resort.

Charlotte will be cold.

I'd play Skybrook, which is just north of town.

I don't think Charlotte will be too cold. I would expect 50-60's. I go down there a lot of Christmas or Thanksgiving Vacation and it's never that bad. Although I'm from Pittsburgh, so by time it's October it is in the 50's.

The weather here is as unpredictable as ocean currents. That being said, chances of it being unbearable, probably not.
There are probably 35 or 40 courses within a half hour drive. I would recommend Skybrook, Rocky River, Olde Sycamore, Ballantyne Resort, Regent Park, Tega Cay, Renaissance Park (quirky but fun city owned layout).
Those are just some of the daily fee courses that stand out.
Highland Creek is also a fun track...
