Senior Rates

I'm 58 and want that senior rate

What age do you have to hit in your area for senior rates? Most of the public courses here in Colo seem to reduce rates for seniors at 62. I'm 58 and searching for the pub courses that consider you a senior at 55.

I'm thinking the golf courses might have to raise the senior age to 70 now, since lots of us will have keep a full time job into our 60's and beyaond.

In the UK many clubs are doing away with reduced membership fees for over 65's. This is because the majority of the members tend to be senior golfers, no longer have dependent families or mortgages, and also as the clubs were losing too much income.

The public courses near my home in Missouri start the "senior rate" at 60. Since I retired last year at 60, I'm lovin' it.

Long Island, NY.....Age 60 qualifies for Senior Rate. And I LOVE it! I play at my home course 18 Holes M-F @ $17.00. :russian_roulette:

I attempted to establish a special rate (walking) for golfers at a local course in NH (not a membership course). The normal rate (M-F excluding holidays) was $36/round.

The deal I suggested was to allow non-seniors to purchase 25 rounds at the beginning of the season (by May 31st) at $30/round for a total of $750, and for seniors to buy 25 rounds at $25/round for a total of $625. These rounds would be played M-F (excluding holidays) and were non-refundable. It also included changing the senior age from 65 to 60. What I ended up with was a change of senior age to 60, but no deal on the rates. Well, at least I got the senior rate down and was able to get the younger seniors to play for $29/round. A little is better than nothing.

A lot of the courses here in North Georgia, including my club offer Senior Rates at age 50. Great Deal. What really got this going was traveling senior leagues. these guys made a couple of senior divisions including fifty year olds. So needless to say most courses wanted the money so they did not fight the 50 and up senior rates.

rony, if I could play a round of 18 for $17, I would probably play 2 rounds/day 5 days/wk. What a deal!!!!! :haha:

AAL: Yes, it's a "Super Deal". You do have to be a town resident and purchase a photo ID Golf card, ($45.00 for two years), and you get no deal on golf carts, but most of us Seniors walk anyway so no big deal. If you are not a town resident, it is rather steep, ($65.00 for 18 holes M-F). It's a beautiful course right on Long Island Sound and managed by Kemper Sports Associates who were retained by the town to maintain a high standard. We have an affluent town with HIGH TAXES!!!!! I have lived here all of my life and have paid my share of taxes over a lifetime so..........My feelings are........This is the LEAST they can do for me. And yes.....At that price, I play the "Daylights" out of that course! FWIW: I can also play Bethpage Black for under $40.00!
