Shapland Bags - what gives?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what's going on at Shapland bags?

I'm very interested in one of the stand bags and have reached out to get some more information from them. I've tried the contact form on the website, an email to Henry I found on the website, DM on instagram. No response to multiple attempts. What gives?

From what I can tell they make an outstanding product. But I'm hoping to be just a little more confident before I spend the money.

I bought a stand bag from him this summer.  Great looking bag, and very nice quality.  A few things to be aware of, if you buy one.

1.) If you play midsize grips, it is a very confined space.  Some of the clubs will get stuck putting them in or pulling them out. They do not have full length dividers, which I think was a mistake.

2.) There is a wax coating on the inside of the bag to help with water resistance I believe.  it gets easily damaged internally, nothing visible externally, by trying to shove the clubs down into the bag.

3.) The legs don't open widely, when setting the bag down, so if you pull on a club to get it out and it gets stuck, it can cause the whole bag to fall forward, as the legs collapse.

4.) Minor issue, but no marker pocket.  Just an fyi, if you are used to them with Sun Mountain bags.

Obviously, these are minor issues,  for those guys who care about the details.

Good info thanks, seems like very minor issues relative to some of the things that drive me crazy about other bags. How was the ordering process? Quick shipping?

I pre-ordered in June, before it became available in July, so there was that delay.  don't remember about shipping time.

Maybe Ping had them shut down seeing as how their bag is an exact copy of the L8 just without the ping logos.

I am surprised to hear you are having issues. Their response times when I have reached out can be measured in minutes if not seconds.  Is this the email address you are using?

[email protected]

As to this bag being a copy of a Ping, he freely admits the Ping L8 was his inspiration, he even posted a home video of him getting one for Christmas as a kid.  But having actually held a Shapland, there are any number of differences such that there is no way Ping would have a case in court.

I tried reaching out via the website again this week and he literally responded in minutes. Must have been taking some days off when i initially reached out.

Had a great dialogue with Henry and I look forward to being a Shapland owner.

He is very responsive.  I sent him my list of minor issues, and he said he would work on some of these in the next iteration.  I like small companies that are responsive to their customers; makes me want to support him again down the road.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
