Why can't I find much information on some old clubs I picked up?

They're MacGregor MCX irons - scouring the likes of Google and Reddit turned up the affirmation that these were made between 1982 and 1984, and that they're different than the MCX Stainless Steel cast irons.  One little blurb on one little site had the original MSRP at $495 in 1980's dollars, but that's still not much to go on.

 

Where did the MCX's fit in the MacGregor lineup?  Were these ever used on tour?  If so, by whom?  Why aren't these listed on any of the old golf club lookup sites, such as the PGA Price Guide or the GolfWorks Maltby Playability Factor database?

From an old 1984 advert they fit into the middle of the "better MacGregor" range above the Tourney and below the Muirfield.

Hey, that's good news.  Do you have a copy of the ad, or is it tucked away in a magazine somewhere?

I still have an MCX driver. These were really popular in the UK in the 1980s. A good price and quality shafts.

Heck yeah!  I found these bundled with a knockoff Taylor Made Burner driver and a knockoff Taylor Made Firesole 5w (ironically, identical to the one I had in my juniors set that I donated earlier this summer) for $9.  A buck per club!
