Mizuno K1-Lo first version impression

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I have just received a nice Mizuno K1-Lo stand bag (first version) and even if I like the overall look and weight of the bag, I must admit I am also concerned about the quality of the fabric.

It seems to be really thin (fragile?). Of course, it is certainly the reason why this bag is so lite but I am concerned about how long it will last.

Those of you who have this golf bag, are you happy with it? I have red a few topics here but I have the impression of mixed feelings.

I usually play around 40 / 50 rounds a year but I'm not sure it's made to endure a lot of games.

Some of you also complain about the fact it twisted on himself when worn on shoulders.

Thanks for your comments.

I had the 1st gen and have the 2nd gen. My first gen had a zipper issue on the valuables pocket so I ended up with a 2nd gen. I had the blue gen 1 and the camo gen 2. I really liked the camo version in pictures but in person it's not quite as appealing. I liked both version of the bag, though I do like the new pocket design a bit better. I had no issues with the fabric on the first gen in the 20 rounds or so I used it for. I will be using the 2nd gen bag this coming season.

I currently own a Jones trouper, Ping Craz-e-lite, Titleist 4 plus, and the K1-lo. I have also had an under armor matchplay 14-way and a SM 5.5 in the past year. I am unimpressed by the jones and the terrible strap system, the Ping is good I like the slots for the pen and divot tool rather than keeping the divot tool in my pocket. I used the Ping much of last season while waiting for Mizuno to warranty my gen 1. The Mizuno just carries better for me. I have had no more issues with twisting than any other bag, and prefer the mizuno straps, I think they all have their intricacies that you need to learn. The top design on the mizuno is what I really like, I can fit all my clubs and get no tangle. I think it is the best light weight carry bag on the market, as I've owned most of them.

The titleist top design, really small IMO, caused club tangle and trouble taking clubs in and out for me. My wife uses it without complaint, but I think she really just likes that it is the St. Patricks day version.

I will be sticking with the K1-Lo but wish I had gotten the all black version. hindsight is always 20/20

I played 130 rounds with mine this year, light grey with optic green color.  90% walking.  Still looks great, and straps are solid.  Material is thin, but how else are you supposed to make a 2.7 pound bag?

Thank you for your answers.

Yes, this bag has for sure the flaws of its qualities. The incredible lightness of this bag, for this size, comes from its fabric and zippers that we will find a little light (or cheap, depending on the POV).
But if you tell me that all in all, everything is fine, then I think I'll keep it because it's true that I made some tests and the bag seems very well balanced, and the straps are really very comfortable.
I'm just a little worried about this game we all know, when we're a little pissed off by a poor performance on a bad day and voila, a second ball after a lost one and it's the zipper of the ball pocket that remains in our hands because we opened it too fast....🤬

On the other hand, I'm surprised that you're disappointed with the opening of the Titleist 4 Plus? It worries me because one of my other choices was to wait for the 2021 Players 4 Std to come on the market here to try it out. And the Players 4 Std is supposed to be smaller than the Players 4 Plus, which suggests an even narrower top.

I played all last year with a K1-Lo in the staff color. The material is thin for sure but I play close to 100 rounds and besides some stains that I can’t get out, the bag has been great.  The straps are my favorite part of the bag.  Lightweight and super padded for carrying.  They never dig.

I did just puncture a tiny hole in the side where the rangefinder case punctured the bag.  That’s on me though.  Just got a new truck and don’t have a tonneau on it yet and had to put my bag in the back seat and drug it across the floor. Anyway, great bag.

Knowing anger tendencies is critical. 😂. I will say it this way, it’s the best carry bag I’ve found.  If you ride more than 50% of rounds, move on to something else.  If you carry more, it’s worth it.

Thank you Minarets

I followed all the posts you left on the best stand bags for 2020 in another topic and that made me want to try this K1-LO bag. Glad to hear that so far it has stood up after so many games played.

I also think I'll try to get a feel for what it's like. I'll give myself until the weekend to decide 😂.

Anyway, apart from this one, there is not much alternative and it's true that the shoulder pads are very comfortable.
