Planning on buying a Clubglider, but don't know the differences between the 5 models

Recommended Posts

My family and I are planning on going to Palm Springs, and given that we plan on traveling for golf with our clubs more in the future, we decided to buy at least one travel cover.

My dad has one that is veritably ancient, but is made of some super thick almost neoprene style material. it's been on a large handful of trips already, and works fine. It can theoretically fit 2 bags in it if you pick 2 small bags.

For the second one, we have burrowed a friend's hard-shell case before, but we usually buy him a box of balls every time we use it. it doesn't even take 10 boxes of those before it becomes worth it to buy your own. We did some looking, and ended up deciding that the Clubgliders were absolutely the best option.

That's as far as we got, and Sun Mountain's website is glitchy on my computer, so comparing models is not going well.

Can anyone give me the rundown on the differences between the Meridian, Journey, Tour, Pro, and Team Clubglider models? Mainly looking for details like materials, club protection, durability, handles, how it stores, and how much bag it can hold.

We've looked at the Kube, and decided that it was too flimsy, and we were not only worried about how much protection it could give, but we also thought that the material would rip easily.

I don't have the specifics of each of the models that you listed, but I am the owner of SM Clubglider Meridian, so I can at least give you my experience there. I think that the Meridian is their mainstream flagship product and probably the one that they intend for most golfers to purchase. I travel with a stand bag, shoes, and balls in my golf bag and it fits easily with room to spare in all directions. I don't know if it would fit a full sized staff bag as I don't own one to test it with, but I'm sure it's going to fit 99% of the stand/cart bags out there today. The bag is very well made and very well padded, so you don't need anything else to protect your clubs (I had an older, cheaper Ogio bag before this one and I always felt like I need to wrap a towel around my clubheads to help help protect them, no need to do that anymore).

What makes this travel bag absolutely amazing is how well that it handles, you simply won't understand how easy it is until you load up the bag and use it in an airport for the first time. I took my clubs along with me when we took the kids to visit their grandparents last month and my son (not quite four years old) was easily able to pull my clubs through the terminal (again, no exaggeration). Once you've pulled one of these bags around you are going to wonder how you ever did it any other way. My bag is still relatively new so I can't comment on long-term durability, but so far there has been no damage from the flights that I've taken. As for storing the bag, you can fold it up easily and it takes up a similar amount of space as other travel bags in my opinion.

Anyway, it's a great travel bag and I highly recommend it. If you're still on the fence, I'd just buy one off of Amazon and then test it out, you can easily return it if needed (that was my plan, but obviously I decided to keep mine).

Anyway, great travel bag, you definitely can't go wrong. I'd step up and get the Meridian, it's not that different in price so you might as well have the best materials and such. I think the larger bags are probably overkill.

Good luck!
