I'd rather watch the LPGA.

Am I the only one here that would rather watch the lpga? I tivo every event and watch it all the time. What I'm intreagued with is the fact that these ladies absolutely tear up golf courses that are the same length I play every week. I don't care if Bubba can bomb it 350 on a 7300 yard course. I want to see Mi Hyun Kim drive it 240 and still post 5 under par for her round. I learn more from them about course management, tempo, etc. than I could ever learn from the men.

My one issue with the TV coverage of their events is that 85 percent of the shots shown are putts... I want to see how these ladies play an entire hole, drive, approach, chip, etc. I can really learn something that way. Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: FORGOT TO ADD THAT I'M A MAN... IF THAT MATTERS.

I like to watch all the Tours, especially the Major events,
however in the last few years, I'm drawn more and more to the LPGA.
I'm 69, a once scratch player, still play a lot, but can't really relate my
game to the Men's Tour at all, there, I'm a fan only. The Senior Tour
players my age are not faring much better than me, so you never see them.
The ones on TV are still the younger group. The Ladies have brought their game
so far in the last decade thats its unbelieveable. They came to a course that I play regularly,
this past year, and I got to see first hand how good they are. I was impressed to the
point that I'm now a full fledged LPGA fan. Go see them if you get the chance, but
tuck your ego safely away.
I agree. It's the kind of golf I can relate too. The guys on Tour play a different game than I do.
This is exactly what I was trying to say... I just got too wordy!

I'm from Long Island, and the old guys play here every year; every once-n-a-while the ladies come by for a tourney... Never miss them. Both groups will make your game look silly. Really fun to watch. (oh, and no crowds either... bonus!)

I have had, and will have again this year, the privilege of marshalling in the Michelob Ultra Open at Kingsmill. YES these ladies can golf their ball. They hit it so pure, dead in the middle of the face. With a lot of the gals, there is no timidness in the swing either. Just a couple interesting facts/stories over the last few years at Kingsmill.......1) I saw tiny little Lorena Ochoa hit a drive 320 yards 2) I also saw Lorena hit 2 LARGE buckets of balls on the range with just a sand wedge 3) I saw Natalie Gulbis and Paula Creamer sign autographs for fans for 30 minutes after completing a competition round 4) I have seen countless ladies talking with, taking pictures with and signing autographs for fans 5) I recognized Betsy King in the gallery last year, and she was kind enough to talk with me 6) Marshalls are routinely THANKED by the ladies for doing their routine tasks.....I could go on and on. Anyway you get the idea. They are a joy to watch play the game, and they are really appreciative of their fans. For me, I have seen my LAST PGA tournament. The LPGA is the ticket! Anyone who has not seen them in person has missed a real treat. As for me/my profile....I am a male, 60 yrs old, 2.5 hcp.

The LPGA has really figured it out. They have young, mostly somewhat attractive, talented players who seem to both represent the tour well on and off the course.

And as the above posts say, they play a game that most double digit handicappers and above can relate to. And as far as the course management statement above, all players of all levels should take note.

LPGA is awesome to watch. I compare Mens'/Womens' golf to Mens'/Womens' tennis. As much as I enjoy watching Federer or Nadal or Roddick- I get bored, every serve is an ace, few (if any) rallies, it's all about power. I appreciate womens' tennis much more, while power is extremely important, to watch a woman of Justine Henin's stature defeat the likes of Serena Williams (let's not get crazy people, nothing to do with race, just power vs. finesse) it's just awesome.

In golf, while I can't say I'll ever get bored of watching Tiger, the mens' game is just on a completely different stratosphere compared with my own game, not that I could even come close to competing with the ladies on the LPGA but in terms of course management and swing-speed, etc, it's certainly closer to reality (for me).

Most amateur golfers would benefit more from watching the women and seniors. The PGA is simply a different game that most can only watch in awe.

Along those same lines, doesn't it make more sense for us average golfers to also pay attention to what equipment the Seniors and LPGA players use? Hybrids and fw are plentiful on these tours, and many LPGA golfers use game improvement irons. They all hit the ball better than most of us- why should we try to use clubs that they don't? I don't really care what clubs Tiger uses, other than idle curiosity, because my club selection and his would probably never be the same outside of 90 yards! I can relate moreso, however, to the club selection of the women and seniors.

I'm a man and I LOVE watching the LPGA. Many reasons stated above, but I can relate better to the distances they hit it. The days of 300+ drives are long gone for me.

The other reason I like the LPGA is the way they treat their fans when you attend an event. They actually appreciate the fact that you are there, and will talk to you. Years ago when my boys were young, I took them to several LPGA events, especially practice rounds. The players would come up to us and talk, they would ask my sons about their golf games. The were VERY COOL!

I agree, Golf Channel, please show more LPGA!

Kevin

So true... the LPGA games are a lot more fun to WATCH than PGA or Champions.

I'm sure there are some guys here who hits his driver 300 yards down the road, and 180 with his 7 iron, etc. But for some people including myself, it's more realistic when you see some girls at 5'5" hit their drives 240-260, and 7 iron 150-160...

I mean, i'd much rather be watching MH Kim, Grace Park, Susan Petterson, Natalie Gulbis, Paula Creamer, etc etc in their skirts and shorts than Jim Thorpe, or Hale Irwin.... in their hawaiian shirts. wouldn't you ?
