Mizzy MX-17s or MX23s?

need help deciding
Hello all. I'm a 13 handicap and looking for new irons. I am torn between the 17s and the 23s. After hitting both I like the high forgiveness of the 17s and the feel of the 23s. My strong points in my game are my driving and short game. Particularly scrambling. My old clubs are a Wal-mart special set from 10 years ago so it's time for an upgrade. The thing is, i play maybe once a week and am wondering if I should go with the 17s for more consistency? Then the other thing is, I've always wanted a set of Mizzy forgings. As you can tell I need help! And no, I can't buy both! :) Thanks for any help.

What price are you looking at as the MX-17 are quite a bit cheaper?

My price range is up to $800. I thought about the 900s but, i haven't seen them in person yet.

You can find them in that price range, no problem. They are widely available now so you should be able to find them now. They look really good to me, not too much offset (less than G2/G5), medium top line width and feel great. Very forgiving and worth a test drive. I prefered over Ping, Callaway Fusion and BB2004 and MX-23's. Everyone is different so you should try to hit them.

BTW, I am a 11 index and Driver SS of 97.

Go for the Mx-23. Skip the cast dead feeling Mx-17.

The Mx-17 is very very easy to hit, very forgiving, but you will soon wnat a more soft and better feeling iron - and then probably have to pay big bucks to buy the Mx-23.

Solution: Buy the Mx-23 NOW !

They are forgiving enough for even a high handicapper and you can play them all the way down to singlefigures handicap.

If you don't want forged, go with something other then Mizuno. Across the board, the Mizuno line of forgings are argubly the best in the world. If you are going to go with cast, skip the MX-17 and go with a Cally or Ping product. Getting a cast Mizuno is like getting a V6 in a Corvette.

I got my MX-17s about 9 months ago and haven't regretted the decision in the least. I love 'em! They were the right choice at the time considering my game and budget. BUT I've also begun thinking about the next step now and if I had to do it again I would go with the MX-23s and even consider the MP-60s given the price range you mentioned and your handicap.

:)

I have been playing with the MX-23s for two years and have no complaints. In that time period have dropped my handicap to a solid 7 from 13 and feel the clubs have helped. You will not have a problem getting the ball up in the air and the long irons are very solid with great feedback. Not the most workable club but lots of feedback. Good luck

At your price range I would go for MX-23's. They have a simplay beautiful feel and in my opinion are one of the best sets around.

I'm gonna have to remember that one. :cheesy:

I've been playing the 23s for about a year and I love them ( 10 hdcp ). Can't offer much on the 17s since I haven't hit them, but good luck on making that choice!!

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
