Oahu Military Courses

Wondering if anyone can give me some insight into which Oahu military courses civilians can play? I've been doing some research but i'm having a hard time understanding some of the rules and which courses are open to the public. i'll be in Honolulu for like 7 weeks and I've always been interested in different/budget courses and would love to get on to some of the  military tracks.  thanks!

Ft. Shafter (Walter J. Nagorski Golf Course) used to be open to the public pre-COVID. Not sure what the deal is now though. It's only a 9-hole course but it has some character. 

 

Navy-Marine might also be an option. Sometimes you can find someone to "sponsor" you on when you try to walk on in the afternoon. Find a two-some waiting to go out and make friends 🙂

 

edit: most of the others are on-base so you'll need someone to get you on base first. Ft. Shafter is on-base but access to that one is easier - don't need a sponsor. Barber's Point G.C. and Leilehua G.C. are not on a base but still need a sponsor to play on.

Hopefully the weather clears and you're able to play. Have you been able to play anywhere since you've got here?

Haven't been able to get out yet, still trying to figure out where to play on a budget haha! I'm sure that's kind of tough around here.

Kaneohe will sponsor you if you call about 2 weeks out. Fun little course with great views.

I've played on Navy Marine and Kaneohe Klipper in 2019. Kaneohe has beautiful views but I prefer Navy Marine, excellent greens. I got on because I was with Honolulu friend who's a retired Navy civilian employee.  Might not hurt to call and see what they say. You have to go through a Marine checkpoint at Kaneohe but not at Navy Marine.
