New Shaft ideas for Ping G425 5 Wood

I picked up a Ping G425 SFT 5 wood on a whim , I started playing this year and the only 5 wood I had was a persimmon. My rotator cuff can be dodgey and I thought I was a slower swing speed than I am because I ordered it with the A-Flex 45g shaft. It's the only brand new club I've ever bought. By chalking the face my face contact is pretty good with my irons, 3 wood, 9wood, etc.. but all over the place on the Ping G425.

I've improved from absolutely horrible 130 or so my first round in June to a passable score of 87 by New Years. I was getting my 9 wood head re-glued and I asked the clerk at the shop as he had a Ping G425 5 wood displayed for suggestions on hitting mine, I hit 2 shots with his regular shaft 65g 5 wood on the Trackman and I hit 92 and 94 clubhead speed, he said I definitely shouldn't be playing the 45g senior flex. It felt much better than my club.

My shot profile is a high fade, I can slice but working on taming that and doing pretty well with it with my 3 wood and not slicing the irons or 9 wood at all. I don't hit low and I'm not chasing a draw shot shape I'm ok with the fade. I don't know anything about shafts or shaft tech so I'm open to any suggestions, I could just order the stock Alta 65g for this club off eBay but wanted to see if there might be a better option that I don't know anything about. I'm willing to spend what it takes to get a good performing club.

I have the same clubhead in a 75g stiff Fujikura Vista Pro and it is the best combo for me. Maybe try a 65 reg? I had the 65 stiff Alta in it stock and I didn’t get along with it at all. Vista pro is a good price point too if it doesn’t pan out.

Take a look at the Aldila Synergy line. I have a similar swing speed and have been happy with that shaft in my fairway woods and driver.

Thanks for the info, are you playing our 5 wood off the tee at all? We are at slightly shorter winter tees right now so I can use the 9 wood on all the par 3's but I may need the 5 (or to get a better 7) once spring kicks in to gear for a couple of them. The shallow head has been really hit and miss for me off the tee but wondering if some of that isn't the shaft issue.

Yeah, off the tee a lot. Many courses here have a lot of dogleg holes to where you can’t take driver unless you cut corners off. Any of those holes or longer 205+ par 3s, I use this and it is automatic. Nice little baby draws all day!
