Arcos vs Launch Monitor: pros and cons for each?

Having used neither of these tools, I'm curious as to which would be a more effective method for improving one's game.  Obviously, there are some plain differences at the outset:  a launch monitor would be the choice for clubfitting as it can be used with any club or manufacturer.  At the same time, with Arcos installed in a set of grips, tracking shots on the golf course would be much easier than lugging around and setting up a piece of equipment for every shot.

 

But what about data, is there much difference between the two?  Anyone use both?

Have you looked up the data that both will provide you? They are different from each other in purpose.  

 

Launch monitor will measure individual shots. Ball speed, distances, landing angle, height, maybe spin and club path data. 

 

Arccos will measure total club distances over time, and inform scoring in different aspects of your game with strokes gained. 

 

If you're trying to decide which to prioritize budget for then figure out what you want to use the device for first.

I have both. Actually I have shot scope, which I feel, in my opinion is just as good as the ARCOS without the subscription. The ARCOS will give you data on shot distances, averages, let you know whether you are short, long, right or left on shots, strokes gained and putting information. All of which are very valuable tools in knowing where you game needs improvement. Shot Scope V3 does the same thing. I also have the Flight Scope Mevo Plus which gives me a ton of ball and club data minus club path and face angle at impact. I use the Mevo on my simulator to work on shot shape, angle of attack and other swing data to improve my contact and overall swing metrics (as much as I can). I use the Shot Scope to let me know my individual round stats and overall performance for the golf season. It lets me know what parts of my game I need to work on. For example, this year I have been golfing twice. On approach shots, according to Shot Scope, I have missed 55% of my approach shots short, 8% long, 20% on the green and the rest left and right. This lets me know that I more than likely need to club up on my approach shots and it lets me know which clubs I have been accurate with and which ones I have not been great with. Additionally Shot Scope lets you go back in after your round and see the course map and where you hit each shot. I have only been golfing for a year now and both of these tools, along with lessons, have been invaluable to me and my needs. As mentioned above, Arccos and a launch monitor are used differently. I’ve had Arccos since December and love it. The GPS is the best part for me. No more guessing how my distance will be impacted by the 40 degree weather.  Also no more drawing the wind direction on my scorecard. Gives me confidence over every shot so I can commit to it. 
 

I would highly recommend. I see the sensors pop up on classifieds relatively frequently if you wanna save a few bucks.
