Mizuno advice? 223, 225 or combo set?

For those that have the 221, 223 or 225-any advice?  I am currently playing mp-20 hmb 3-5 and mp 20mb 6-pw. I Like the current make up but would have gone 6 or maybe 7 in the hmb if I had to do  over again.  I am a mid-trajectory iron player. -1 to +1 handicap but will turn 55 next year and like the help the hmb give me.  My gut says 225 or combo set again.  How much of a concern is distance control?  Pros and cons of each?  Thanks in advance for any advice?

I hit the 22X line.  I'm close in age and h.c. to you.  Coming from your current set, I don't think you'll love a full bag of 225's.  They get a little clunky as you move into the short irons and the spin is on the low side for what most better players want in the scoring irons and out of the rough.  I'd suggest 225 in the long irons and 223 in the mid and short irons.  The 223 will be a noticeable upgrade in help over the MP20 MB.  After hitting the current Mizuno line, I went with the 223 in 4-PW but will likely swap out the 4i for a 225.  The 223's have a little more pop and forgiveness than Mizuno 'player cb's' have had in the past.

i think you could do 223 4-PW and then go 225 in 3 iron.   The 223 up to and including 7 iron are pretty forgiving and as previous poster mentioned have plenty of pop.  great clubs

I have 2-5 225 and 6-9 221 and the combo works well, but the 225 is already designed as it's own combo set in a way when you look at the construction. I'd suggest going 225 all the way.

I totally agree, both the 225 and 223 are "built in" combo sets. I would hit them both and just pick your favorite.

Anybody experience with a mp20 mb combo with 223s in the longer irons? Any lefties perhaps? Seems like it could work on paper. 

As a lefty it’s quite the challenge putting together - heck, even trying (in the Netherlands at least) - a nice Mizuno combo set (I’m not much of a fan of the MP20 SEL HMBs)…

As others have said, the 223 is a built-in combo set already and is your only choice as a lefty. I don't see any reason to get cute with the MP20's unless you already own them and are looking to save some money by just just buying a few clubs vs a full set.

As a matter of fact, I do have and adore my MP20 mb’s. I’m not willing to let them go just yet, but I’d like a wee bit of help in the longer irons (5, 4 & 3) 🙂

I'm trying out this combo now with a 4 and 5-iron (standard lofts on all clubs).  So far, I'm liking it
