Ping Irons Lie Angles

I know Ping uses a color-coded lie angle system but is there anything that relates a certain color with an actual number in degrees like everyone else does?

Yes, the specs on the Web show black coded lies as standard through the range. The colour-coded incremental adjustments are a set intervals. It was 1 degree as I recall but changed to 0.75 but I’m sure there’s a few Ping experts on here who may describe it more fluently. So red would be 0.75 flat on the spec sheet.

You can get a baseline from degrees listed for the standard (black dot irons).

Then you can calculate from there the lie angle of other color dots. For example, an orange-dot 5i would be

61.0° - 2° = 59.0°.

But, realize that the Color Chart is only a static starting point for fitting. The follow-up Dynamic Swing fitting shows how your irons interact with the turf, and generates optimum club specs. You do not lie-bend or shaft-trim the player's final iron set based upon color chart data.

I can't find any "specs" on the web such as what the actual degree measurement is for any of their irons. Perhaps I'm missing something somewhere. Can you tell me what the actual degree number is for a Black dot 7 iron is?

You need to do this:

GOOGLE the Ping iron model reference with the suffix “ specifications “. Open the PING website for that model and enter the “ specification” section. EXAMPLE: I used “ Ping G425 iron specifications “ and looked up 6i lie which equals 61.5 degrees.

Then go to the “ Ping lie colour code chart “ and e.g. a red lie is the 61.5 degrees above knocked 1 degree flat. I thought the divisions were 0.75 Degrees now but I’m wrong.

if you use the WRX search button you can find reams of stuff on this.

As the lie angles may vary on each iron model, you need to enter the exact model of Ping Iron to get the DATUM point ( I.e. the 61.5 above for a G425 6i ). Good luck.

As the Ping color code chart shows, each different code relates to a + or - from BLACK Dot.

RED is -1 degree from BLACK for each iron in the set

BLUE is +1 degree from BLACK...

etc, for each color code

Example: G425 6 iron is 61.5 degrees in Black, 60.5 in Red, and 62.5 in Blue
