Lin Brehmer long time DJ at wxrt 93.1 Chicago lost his battle with prostrate cancer this morning.   He is and will be missed.

I moved to chicago (naperville) in january of 1979 - what a great start to 30+ years - snowiest year on record.    And i quickly found wxrt which hadnt been long a full time fm station.  Much more eclectic than today and lin joined sometime in the mid80s.     It has been and continues to be my station and since moving out of chicago it is great to use the internet to continue listening where ever i am - home, car, . . .    Cant count the number of folks who whether doing our pest service or over for a visit ask what station is that you have on.      Playing lots of lin today with his lin's bin.

I submitted a question for Lin’s Bin many years ago and kind of forgot about it.  I was getting ready to leave for work one cold winter morning, definitely dreading the long commute from Chicago -> Schaumburg in the snow.  My phone starting ringing at 6:30am and I was like WTF please don’t let this be my manager.  I pick up and it was Lin Brehmer, he was calling to let me know he’d be reading and responding to my question on air and XRT would be sending me a cool gift package.  We had a hilarious little conversation, totally brightened up my day.

 

RIP to a great guy.
