Orlando/Streamsong Trip 4/2-4/8

Our group of 6 is headed to the Orlando area April 2nd-8th.  Here is our tentative itinerary:

April 2- Fly in to Orlando and relax

April 3-  Originally we had 36 at Orange County National planned for this day, but we were just told that Crooked Cat will be closed

April 4- 18 @ Southern Dunes and then drive to Streamsong

April 5- 36 @ Streamsong

April 6- 36 @ Streamsong

April 7- 36 @ Streamsong

April 8- Fly back to Ohio

The only real question I have is what can we do to fill in the 36 holes we need to play on Monday April 3rd?

Ideally it would be close to the Orlando area, but we do not have an issue driving up to 90 minutes or so if that is what it takes to play the best golf possible.

We are looking for something in a similar price range as 36 at Orange County National would have cost us, but again we can go a little higher if need be.

If this was your trip what would you do?

Thank you!!

Haha.

How about that!!

Can't say that I keep up on the LIV schedule very much, but that certainly makes sense.

We are looking at Grand Cypress, Lake Jovita, and Mission Inn.

Thank you

All 3 of those are great options.  If you're heading to Streamsong, Lake Jovita might make the drive a little bit further as it is north of Tampa by about an hour or so.  You truly can't go wrong with any of those 3 choices if you ask me.  It will just depend on what you're looking for and if distance to Streamsong is a large factor.

Mission Inn is a good option, but it's taking you in the opposite direction from Streamsong. There's no way I would do Lake Jovita, even though I like their courses and their Villas. Depending on time of day it can be a two hour drive from MCO to Lake Jovita and then you'll have a long ride to back track to Southern Dunes the following day.

Some better options:

Stay at the Omni and play two rounds at Championsgate. Either play  both of the Omni courses (Championsgate International and National) or play the nearby Championsgate Country Club and the Omni International. Green fees shouldn't be too different than OCN and you have the benefit of being close to Southern Dunes for your next day's round.

Stay at Disney and play Palm and Magnolia.

Orange Lake is an under appreciated. option The courses (Legends and Reserve)  aren't as good as OCN, but they are good value, conveniently located and they have nice lodging options.

If you are willing to pay Streamsong like prices, stay at the four seasons at Disney, play Tranquillo and Waldorf

With some moving around of times and location of our Air BnB for Sunday and Monday we now have:

Sunday- Fly in and potentially play 18 somewhere in the late afternoon.  We are going to be near Providence Golf Club.   Anybody have feedback on that course?

Monday-  36 at Southern Dunes

Tuesday-  18 at Eaglebrooke.   This was kind of the course that is on our way from where we are staying to StreamSong so it made since.   Anybody have feedback on Eaglebrooke?

Arrive at SS and do the putting course before hitting the steak joint up for dinner

Wednesday-Friday- 36 a day at SS playing each course 2 times

Saturday- Depressingly fly home!!!

I live about 20 minutes from Providence so play there frequently. It's decent, but not special. It's a fairly typical Florida residential community course. It's pretty flat, (although there a couple mildly elevated tees such as #7 which is a pretty good cape style hole)  has fairly wide fairways, lots of water hazards, but it's pretty easy to avoid them.  There's a good variety hole holes... long short, straight, dogleg.  It's not a bad choice for a first round and it's relatively inexpensive.  Note that they are still building homes at the large Providence residential community and there is active construction along the corridors of one or two holes.

Other options if you don't play Providence of Sunday: Championsgate is located about 20 minutes from Providence. If you can get a tee time at any one of the three Championsgate courses I'd do that instead of Providence. Your other options in that general area are White Heron, which is similar to Providence but has tighter fairways, or Highlands Reserve. I am a fan of Highlands Reserve. Highlands Reserve is on a really good piece of land on a sandy base with lots of elevation changes. There's no water hazards at Highlands Reserve.  The first three holes are not a great start, but after that every hole is really good except perhaps the par 5 #9

Click on the photo below to link to photos of Providence. The course actually is better than the photos make it out to be.
