Scotty Cameron Custom Shop Question

Does anyone know if there is any truth to the Scotty Custom shop turning away work if a putter grip is replaced locally at a Golf Galaxy? I want to install a Superstroke until I can afford losing a putter for a month and don’t want to find out that they won’t do custom work on it bc the grip was changed to a non Scotty.

 

Any help is appreciated…thank you.

Yup, not true at all.  Actually, if you really want to get the most out it I recommend the following:

 

1.  Pull the shaft--this will allow you to save on shipping since you can fit the head in a much smaller box.

 

2. When you buy a shaft you get any grip free of charge.  This will save you some money and you now have a spare shaft.  The Scotty Cameron shafts are proprietary so it could be challenging to find a replacement.

Have they always been proprietary? Bc tbh i prefer the feel of the stepped steel shaft in my 11+ year old Odyssey White Hot Pro (im assuming a true temper shaft) over the shaft in my ‘21 Phantom x11. It could just be that I’m more used to it, but the SC shaft does feel less stiff

Sent a putter in October with a SS Tour 2.0. No problems at all.

how much is it to have them add the shaft? The CC shop is down till march, so couldn't check.

Think it’s $75

My understanding is that if the CS replaces the shaft it will not have a serial number (as original shafts have)?

$75 sounds right as far as I can remember and you can pick any grip you want and save the $41 I believe it is.

This is a good question so I will have to check mine when I get home and I will report back.

I could not find a serial number on my custom shop shaft so I am not certain it is on there.  Unless it is covered by the grip.
