Scotty Cameron - Custom Spec / Swing Weight Question

So I had ordered a Newport + with custom specs (1* upright and 35.5").   It came back with those specs but it notes the swing weight is "E +".   What does that mean?  Is it something between D9 and E0?

 

I didn't indicate I wanted anything heavier or lighter than standard.  I am assuming since the length is 1/2 inch longer the swingweight is heavier all else being equal?   What would the standard swing weight be?   If I swapped the standard 10g weights our for 5g, what would the SW be?

Forget swing weight there is no standard in putters and people obsess over it too much. Does it feel good in your hands and can you put in a comfortable and confident stroke?

Especially with putters...go with length and feel. Don't worry about the swingweight. When you add/remove length, the swingweight changes on the scale. .5" is not significant enough to change anything noticeably

If you don’t like the “feel”, you can get weights to change the “feel”. From Scotty for $$$ or Amazon for less.   Best to get the proper tool as well-Amazon.  
 

E+ means E0 or higher, doesn’t matter though, it’s all about what you putt best with.   
 

Might be just fine as is.

I wasn’t too caught up in the actual SW and will adjust if it doesn’t feel right after some use.  I was just curious what E+ meant and/or how much heavier than standard that was.   My initial reaction was this felt heavy compared to putters I’ve recently been using.  Could be a good thing though, especially on short putts where I can get quick.  Time will tell after a few rounds with it. 
 

If I were to swap the 10g for 5g weights, do you think that’ll feel materially lighter?  Seems to be easier to go heavier than lighter, as my only other option would be heavier grip right?

I think you will notice a difference. I noticed a difference when I go up 5 grams in the toe and heal (10 grams total) so I assume you would notice in the opposite direction. I have never gone from 10 to 5 but have gone from 10 to none just to see how it feels and you notice a difference for sure. For $12 on amazon its an easy test. I would go for it.

 

That being said - it might also just be overall weight of the putter throwing you off...so if the weigh kit doesn't help...I would then look at lighter grips.
