What would you guys work on?

You have the club too laid off at the top, which in the downswing means it can only steepen. Work on getting the club more vertical at the top of the backswing. That way you can direct the clubhead more downward, rather than out. I like your feels though. Good body movement and release. Just work on that backswing.

Can't see grip but would start with setup.   Right now, too much knee bend too little tilt at hips - so butt sticks out and upper body too upright.

want hips and ankles aligned and shoulder/hands hanging just past toes

otherwise swings is pretty complex and upper body dominate - imagine it would be hard to continuously swing your swing.    How you proceed depends on whether you want to work with an instructor, go on your own, or a hybrid.

hands and shoulder are hanging better but butt is still too far behind - need to align hips and ankles better.

backswing - arms work too much away from the body which leads to insufficient arm depth, wrists set too much too early, leading to you standing up and flattening your swing at the top - you've already moved your hips significantly toward the ball - and backed your chest away.

From here if you just continue with arms your shaft will be just behind your neck so to get depth you stand up and flatten your shoulders.    knees and hips have barely moved relative to the upper body - so already out of sequence.

see how flat your shoulders and hips have become etc this allows you to over rotate

Downswing is a reaction to motion to get you to the top with lower and upper body out of sequence so arms are trailing hips leading to path out to the right and a late flip to hit the ball - going to be blocks and hooks depending.

you were interested in the rope swing.   I would suggest you work on the shurn rhythm and do continuous swings etc.   swinging a 10 lb weight will get you to use the lower ody better in coordination with the upper body.

doing these continuous swings after working the shurn a bit would be my suggestion.    or find an instructor - don't know where you are but folks like Todd Casabella offer remote live lessons.     Going it alone can work but likely has less success, in my experience.

You are changing things, which is good, but i think you changed too mich. It looks like in the new swing the arms are not deep enough in the backswing and instead work up too much. You also are doing a slight reverse pivot and overswing.

I would go back to the first swing in the first video and just work on pointing the club more towards the target at the top of the backswing. This will make sure the club is not laid off (or pointing left of target.) Keep everything else in that first video. It looked great.

It's not steep anymore, but you are rotating your hips open, forcing a lot of extension through the ball. Its a nice recovery. Your extension gets the club on a good path through the ball, but its a very unbalanced swing with a lot of face rotation near the bottom in order to square the face. You basically have the correction from your first videos but with a better backswing.

I would work on the downswing sequencing. Sequence is lateral pressure movement (not hip turn), then arms down, and last rotate. I think u have good feels, since you make natural corrections. I think if u just focus on lateral movement, or pressure shift, you will get a better downswing sequence. I like the heart falling idea here. If you keep the arms back and wide when you heart fall, the club should narturally fall in the slot so you can swing through.

  • 3 weeks later...

One thing is always relevant, my swing has its days, but also has those days when it will let me down on 2nd shots into the green.  Thankfully, I can always count on my wedge game to save pars, even get some in position for a birdie or three.  To that point, I always bring 3 wedges into my office during the week, to practice chipping down the hall at a net.  Been doing that since I took up golf.

Essentially, I practice chipping 3–4 times per week.  Last weekend I was on 16, Par 3, needing a birdie, then I chipped in, finishing 3 over.  My advice work on your short game far more than your long game.
