Swinging lighter stuff slower? What could be the root cause?

I've been experimenting with new driver with a lighter shaft and have noticed that I seem to be swinging slower with the lighter club (about 2-3 mph per a swing speed radar). I've also started some speed training (SuperSpeed) and noticed that I'm actually getting my fastest speeds with the blue and red sticks as opposed to the red (lightest).

 

Has anyone seen anything seen something similar and figured out the cause? I'm a bit befuddled by this and am wondering if this might be a sign of some sort of flexibility or physical issue I need to work on.

sounds more mental,  you just have to get used to putting out high effort with little to no resistance

Lighter weight is probably affecting your feel and causing you to alter the swing resulting in slower speeds. Lighter doesn’t always mean faster for some people

You're absolutely correct.  I know for myself I'm better off with 70 gram shafts vs. 60.  I was on the quest for more ball speed and found that my ball striking suffered significantly and my ball speed was the same with lighter shafts.  As a result, I've gone back to 70 grams and my driving stats have improved.

This tells me you're the type of golfer that does better with heavier shafts/setup.  Sounds like your arms sync up better with your lower body with a heavier setup hence more swing speed.  I would suggest going heavier as lighter isn't always better/faster.  As far as flexibility goes, I recommend doing at the very least some sort of a static stretching routine 4-6x a week.  Add some dynamic stretching like yoga and pilates and you may see your ss jump up a bit as it allows you to get into better positions in your swing.

Probably like the difference between throwing a nerf football vs a real football. It might just be too light.

Maybe you slow down to more accurately figure out where the club head is.

 

I have the opposite problem.  I do much better with a light driver down to B5 versus a heavier D0 driver.  I now swing a C2 driver which is lighter than most.
