About to send out putters to be refinished for the first time (Original Newport & Studio Design 1)

Titles says it all - thought I lost these putters in a move back in 2015 and my wife found them in storage last week.  Was going to sell them but 1) have no idea what they're worth and 2) I'm not a kid any more and can afford to have them refinished haha.

 

So I've been reading tons of threads related to Scotty Shop vs BOS and impact on value.  Some of the threads were rather old so I was hoping to get crowd insight here. 

• I'm only looking for 100% refinish back to original, is it true NO places do these original finishes any more?
• The Newport is 100% original shaft, grip, and head cover - should I take special precautions before sending this one?
• The Studio Select doesn't have original head cover or grip but does have the original shaft - same as above, any precautions (e.g. keep the original shaft)?
• Cost is going to be around $350 for Scotty vs $200 for BOS (my choice right now) - given I doubt either of these are worth more than $350, why would I spend more on refinishing a putter than its worth?  I do not plan on selling these after BTW but also don't plan on gaming them - will most likely go into my man cave's putter rack.

 

Part of me is also tempted to put these right back into storage and focus on my golf game instead of tinkering with old putters I thought didn't exist any more haha.

 

Would love to hear the crowed thoughts - as always I love and appreciate the feedback... just go easy on me, pretty sure someone in my last thread put a snap hook curse on my new driver 😭

If you’re just displaying them why spend time to refinish them or go with a cheap basic option. 
 

However, my curiosity wants for you to refinish the oil can with Scotty Cameron. I have a studio design as well with some wear and wondered too if SC will restore to like new condition.

Sorry, I should have added they will be on a display rack that will be used frequently for indoor putting.  In regards so your oil can comment, all the threads I've read said the studio designs original finish isn't being replicated by anyone right now, wasn't just an oil can finish but a little more modified?

Working on your golf game to get better rather than spending money to 'look' good? You heretic!

I would leave them alone now.  They aren't really beat up and their value isn't skyrocketing based on a refinish. 

 

If you really love them then a refinish is understandable, but I would 100% go with BOS.

Change of heart, think I'm going to send them to eBay...  I have too many putters and I'm not a collector.

 I’d pull the heads, soak in acetone then send them to a gunsmith to be blued. But I’m a cheap a** and not afraid of metal so take it with a grain of salt.
