Correct position on the tee block when dealing with a right push/fade? Advice please

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

I am a RH male golfer. I typically fade (not controlled) or push the ball about 15 to 18 yards right with my driver. Question for all of you for which can't seem to find a consistent answer from the locals: What side of the tee block do I hit from (or favor) to compensate for my push/fade tendency? The right or left side? For simplicity, assume a generally straight angle with the flag near or around the middle of the fairway.  Please send your advice.  Thank you!

A lot of that would probably depend on the shape of the hole and any potential obstructions/hazards. Straight? Dogleg left or right? Any overhanging trees near the tee that need to be avoided? Water or other penalty area on one side of the hole?

Assuming none of those factor in... If I'm planning on playing a draw (right to left) I'll typically tee it up closer to the left side, and if I'm planning on playing a fade (left to right) I'll migrate towards the right side of the box. I find that allows me more room to curve the ball and a little more margin for error.

Obvisouly hole dependent but, tee it on the right side and aim towards the left edge of the fairway. If your misses are truly over fading and pushing it, it'll give you room to be ok if : it goes straight, fades a bit, fades a lot, straight push. Now, if you have a two way miss, good luck.

I used to hit a push cut exclusively with driver....I preferred to tee it up on the left side of the box and aim down the left side of the fairway..My feet would still be inside the markers though....Teeing up on the far right and aiming left never felt right and I would almost always block it.

The angle is so small it really doesn't matter, except if it makes you ever so slightly more comfortable.

But if the left side of the tee box is in better condition, or there's a tree on the right side that feels tight, or a shadow moving around, or has a bit less of a slant/tilt to it or anything like that… tee off from the left side. Like I said, the angle isn't that different given the width of most tee boxes.

I like the right side suggestions above and nothing wrong with starting there.   I would recommend when possible practicing as close to the far right end of any range that's fenced in on the sides.  Your brain will learn pretty quick what to do, hookers on the left end.   Take on that right side, you can do it.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
