Bushnell Phantom 2 Firmware Update

Has anyone successfully performed a firmware update for the Phantom 2?  I’ve tried on two different Windows 10 machines using the latest version of Chrome (per the instructions) and the device fails to be recognized. Tried multiple USB ports and USB-C cables without success. All other USB devices are recognized on both machines so it’s not a port issue. Anybody had any luck with this?

I updated mine a few months ago. The Bushnell documentation was horrible, but it looks like they have updated their FAQ now with the proper URL to their update manager portal (when registering, make sure to use "001" for the country code, this took me a while to figure out).

 

If you are following the directions once here and are still having problems, then it could be a driver or security issue on your machine.

You're not alone! I have the same issue. I tried on both Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro. Also on Windows 11. Same results as you. The device is not recognized as a drive. It isn't recognized at all!

Well after having delayed doing this update, I referred to the email I received from customer service for support 800-423-3537.  Called it and after punching through the menu, the wait time was lengthy and had them call me back. One hour later I received a call which while not speedy was a helluva lot better than waiting on the phone. These were the steps we performed:

1- unplug cabled device from PC

2- turn ON device

3- plug device into PC and depress OFF button on device just until the "Bushnell" logo appears (not a long hold until off like I usually do)

4- device recognition should begin and the device screen should be showing the big round battery logo (same as when it's charging)

5- Click the begin button on the update web page

6- the device should appear in the file explorer window

The below steps are a little fuzzy from memory but I'll do my best....

7- right click on the root directory of the device and allow whatever it wants (can't remember). I don't recall seeing the "update" folder shown in the instructions until after the entire update was complete.

8- when you have the page where you can select update firmware & course, select both

9- on the next page you must choose a country and state

10- choose update at the bottom of the page

11- Once the long update process is over, unplug the device, and turn the device OFF

12- turn the device ON and a progress bar will display as the update is applied. DONE!

Steps 7-10 may not be exact but you should be able to muddle through it.

The good news is once you go through this process, I was told it can be done from the phone app.

I did the update and mine is still 20-50 yards eveyeo else's gps, rangefinders.  Going on 2 weeks of emails and still Bushnell hasn't given me a return address. Custo service has been poor at best. It has been off from day one.

when i got to the update screen, it was blank.

i had to select: United States

then selected: My state

then selected: search

 

and a list of courses in my state were presented. 700+ to be updated - 2 hrs.

I selected: Select All

scroll down and select: DONE

 

you have to go thru this for every state where  you might play to cover the winter golf trips to SC or NC or FL or AL or AZ...etc...

I used the Bushnell App from my phone, just made sure the bluetooth was connected. Was at a Dunkin using their wi-fi and the firmware updated in about 18 minutes.

The rep told me that the FIRST firmware update need to be done attached to a PC. All future firmware updates could then be done from the phone app.  If you updated first time via the app then perhaps the app was updated to accommodate first time firmware updates.
