Wipey fades help

Struggling long game wise with big pulls with shorter clubs and wipey cuts with longer clubs, always been a draw player but can’t for the life of me get the ball starting right and turning over.

 

any help would be much appreciated

If you pause your video at shaft-parallel on the way down, you can see that the clubhead is outside of your hands. So, into the ball, your path is very down-the-line if not slightly across the line. If you're trying to compress the ball with a short iron and are sure to close the face at impact, then that's going to be a pull; and with a long iron or longer club where you feel like the face is square (or even slightly open) to the path, that's going to be a wipe.

 

You're not OTT, as I'm sure you know. It just looks like the clubhead kicks out toward the target line early. To hit a draw, it looks like your path is going to have to be more in-to-out.

For a long time I was thinking I could set club face at the top (motorcycle move) for simple accuracy but it never worked out. I would usually manage to get the face open on the way down.  Now I use a Cogorno tip.  Close face with wrists on the way back, roll forearms to close on the way down.  Club face vertical or closed (pointing down) at P8.

 

I had to trust the rotation in the downswing would not be inaccurate and so far so good.

 

Long irons and driver are now best they have ever been.  Short irons I don't really think about, just picture the target and go.

What the others said is correct and the reason why is you extend your lead wrist too much and too early during the downswing.  One could make a case in the backswing too.

 

You need to add some flexion/bow to it in early downswing.

I have been working on getting my left wrist more bowed on takeaway and downswing. Kinda like keeping the face pointed downward through the swing. It has given me better contact, reduced my fade wipes, and helped flight the ball down a bit and increased distance. I’ve always been a high ball hitter due to an early release and adding loft at impact, from having a cupped wrist. Going to working on a bowed wrist has transformed my game this summer
