Driver set position on ground

I've been struggling with driver for years. I've recently decided to go back to the 100% basics and check through my setup/swing.

 

I've seen contradicting takes on how the driver should sit on the ground behind the ball. Yes, i know some people hover, but I've never liked that.

 

Should the driver set with the back portion off the ground and sit on the front up by the face?--- Looks like Rory does this? Or maybe he's hovering. Hard to tell.

 

Or should the driver lay flush to the ground? --- Appears Tiger does this?

If two of the best players ever do it differently, it should tell you that it’s not some fundamental that needs to be done a certain way. 

 

Experiment with all the different driver setups you can think of, keep notes, and figure out what works best for you.

Just remember either way, when you pick the driver up to start your swing the driver head moves in an arc out from your toes.  If you ground the club it has to be aligned off the toe to compensate for that arc.

 

I bounce and hover the head about 6" behind the ball AND off the toe when it hits the ground on the bounce. The bottom front of the face hits the ground on the bounce.

I do agree! But I dont know if theyre trying to hit a certain shot with it one way or the other? Does setting it up on the front like Rory promote a draw? Does he always do that?

Driver on ground, ball go crooked. 

Driver hovering, ball go straight.

Ya i guess hovering isnt what i mean. Specifically driver flat vs the back picked up and on the front edge

Looking at those to videos at address leads me to believe that Rory's driver has a more open face angle than Tigers. Shaft angle looks identical and that's the only thing that will make the trailing edge of the sole higher. So it's not necessarily how they're holding it, bit the driver itself.
