An Old Age Advantage (re: Green Reading)

I have arthritis in pretty much any joint that you choose to look at. Knees (osteo arthritis) and lumbar region of the spine (spinal stenosis) are two of the more significant problem areas (along with the left shoulder). 

 

The spinal stenosis makes my hip hurt when I walk uphill (central canal arthritis impinging on a nerve) and the osteo-arthritis makes my knees hurt when I walk downhill. So step #1 for me in green reading is to walk across the line of my putt. If my hip hurts then that direction is uphill. If my knees hurt then that direction is downhill. If they both just mildly complain but not to the point of pain then there is no sidehill component at that point in the putt. Repeat along the line of the putt to determine uphill/downhill.

I'm 42 and I have 3 herniated discs and a bad left knee.  As a result, it doesn't feel all that great when I squat down all the way to read putts.  I'm also a horrible green reader with my eyes.  I started using Aimpoint Express last year and it's helped tremendously.  I let my feet do the reading and and only need to squat halfway down.  Looks like your method of reading greens is a modified Aimpoint, OP, lol.
